I think aggression mechanics (in addition to giving us a more dynamic perspective on our map for drops & responding to situations) could be used to alleviate SP Farming.
Specifically, by requiring vehicles to be attacking or attacked (actively engaging the enemy) for repairs to contribute warpoints we can still gain WP for repairing combat damage (immediately after killing the enemy or shortly after taking the damage). The MCCs would simply have "aggression" turned off (no WP ever given for trying to repair them).
Thoughts, suggestions, ideas, hacks around this proposed fix? |

Sometimes a driver makes a mistake, they shouldn't be punished for 0 SP just because they took a turn too tightly. They should be rewarded for bad driving. The reward for getting out & repping your vehicle is that you dont' have to call in a new one or have it go boom while you're plodding around in it.
Also, if you clipped while you were running someone down & hopped out to rep the second it gave you the kill, counts because aggro would be on from you running the guy down.
Jarre Jardox wrote:So repping the mcc which should be a viable tactic cus its actually helping the team win gets punished? It'd be up to the devs to determine if that is "a viable tactlic" that deserves WP rewards or not. I don't feel that you should be able to rep the MCC for ongoing WP rewards.

Par explain a little? (apologies for being slow sometimes :P )
Linked in the first post...but essentially:
Aggression indicators would turn on when you damage an enemy or are damaged by an enemy & would expire in 30 seconds.
So, in order to earn WP for an LAV, Tank, or Dropship that needs repairs the vehicle or vehicle turret would have had to have killed/damaged an enemy within the last 30 seconds OR have been damaged by an enemy within the last 30 seconds.
If 30 seconds is too long the devs cut it back to 15 or 20 seconds, if it's too short they bump it up to 45 seconds, etc... |

Judging from the TREMENDOUS amounts of armor the MCC's have, your repping has little effect as compared to the damage done by the Null Cannons. Couple that with the amount of people it would take to just stand there and rep the MCC while it's being shot, and you have a lost cause.
In addition to my previous response also, this. |

I think that we need to take in to account risk versus reward here because this tactic does have a very small risk and should have an equally small reward but should remain as a viable tactic. I think a better way to handle this particular tactic is provide wps to Repairers based off of the percentage of armor repaired making it more rewarding to run around healing suits less so for vehicles and extremely less for the mcc. This leaves repping the mcc as a viable tactic but removes the ability to efficiently farm sp off it.
The warpoints are used to provide a "battle commendation" that enables your squad leader to access the resources needed to call in an orbital strike.
How is sp farming by banging a vehicle around & fixing it with little risk to yourself doing anything that anyone would deserve a commendation for?
It's like paying your mechanic to **** up your car then fix it for you. |

Have you looked at the mccs health.... any repairs do absolutely nothing. And even if it was a viable method it would be something that could be saved for matches that don't grant SP (corp battles, faction warfare, etc..).
The idea isn't to punish people who sit on top of the MCC & rep it nonstop through a match or to punish players who want to use their match time to increase their passive sp gain by sitting around their spawn and earning battle commendations for failing driver's ed and passing auto-shop.
It's to prevent exploitation of a game mechanic that effectively takes a squad out of a match & replaces their squad leader with an orbital bombardment battery and/or provides a disincentive against the intended gameplay mechanics by taking something earned & making it something that's both taken for granted and improperly balanced. |

remote repping from Within a vehicle does not net squad leader' order bonus points for the repper, nor does it award the squad leader with Command points (iirc)
if people are RR the MCC then the risk is actually greater then the reward i reckon.
Redline farming can go DIAF however :P
The remote repping of the MCC was more of an add on than anything else, but I feel is still very valid. The issue remain that the SP/WP farming needs to end as much as possible. |
