Okay so we can all call vehicles in, but what if I don't want to use my vehicle anymore? Just leave my 200k dropship sitting on the ground to get jacked? What if I used my LAV to get where I want to go and now I don't need it, just let it blow up?
IMO there should be a pick-up for vehicles. Just like the RDV drops them off, it comes in, picks them up, and flies back to wherever it goes.
"Charge for the service. Say 10% of the cost of the vehicle. Or make damage persistent. Call in a tank and it will still be damaged."-Illuminati
You should also be able to kill an enemy that called in his dropship, hack it, and call in the RDV to pick it up. Stealing vehicles ftw.
Maybe just put a compound in skirmish where home base is, drive it in, get booted out of the compound. |

I can see that, with bigger maps I will use LAV as transportation. I dont want to just stay in it for the whole match. |

One thing ive thought about when it comes to this is some sort of teleporting device that transport ships. Like that the EVE players could beam up your vehicle again. |

I agree, Sometimes i'll bring a dropship into a match right at the start and end up spending the whole time running from swarmers. At that point I'd rather just park at home base and have it taken away so i can do something constructive without losing my expensive flying rectangle. |

Agreed. That happens to me all the time and it just makes you want to stop using vehicles lol. |

If you search, there are already multiple threads on this. I know because I created one. In any case, the general result in the past seemed to be you are bringing in your assets at your own risk and if you leave/lose them during play, that's your loss. I don't agree but that's what I've gotten from the previous posts. |

use starter vehicles for transportation. i use the starter LAV all the time if i just wanna get somewhere. i could care less about it because it costed me nothing.
now i usually would like to use my 200,000 tank or dropship if i called it in. so i never had the issue of not wanting it anymore. idk what to say to that. |

I like the idea, but say a 2mil ISK tank is in a loosing fight he might just be able to retreat, call an RDV and it sweeps it up just in time for him to call in another fresh full armor tank in again. That would be cheap and you know a few here would do just that. |

I can see this being an excellent idea if the starter fit on the LAV had no turret mounts, transport only.
But once it goes live they will probably not be free anymore. |

They are actually looking into doing this. It's just not as cut/dry as you might think! Time constraints and all. It's a good idea and CCP has never shot it down in the past! |

lol even the transport vehicles have guns (the dropships). but it makes sense they need some way to defend themselves and unfortunately you cant shoot from the car. you should be able to though. |

Yep. That's happened at least 5 times with dropships, probably 30+ times with LAVs (which I'm actually specced into.) |

id ask CCP to vehicle lock it for a ceartin amount of time when you call it, so that only you can drive it. / no one could hack
IE: i call in a tank, it can't be hacked or taken by anyone until 3 minutes is up. this is invalid if i get in it and then leave it though.
edit: as for the person that said "they will just call it back once it's weak and call it in back again with full health"
a solution to that i think would be to make it so you couldn't call the vehicle back to the field again until repairs are done to it. and you'd know when it's done when the timer for it runs out. |

There was another related thread about different vehicle modules; one where the owner is the only one who can drive or the owner can kick out the driver. There were other ideas such as anti-hacks and boobytraps. Who knows? Maybe those will happen eventually. |

I loveses me some vehicles. I love my Tanks, and I love my LAV's.
Problem is, there does need to be a way to get rid of them when finished. But, as someone mentioned, there needs to be a way to keep from having it picked up and then immediately calling in for a new one t replace it to act as 'cheap repairs'.
So, I dunno, put a cooldown timer on calling in vehicles? And this same timer should be triggered when picking one up?
---
Right now I use almost entirely free or almost free LAVs to get around. Or run people over. Or shoot them. I'd like to build a really awesome one, but it'd cost almost as much as a tank, and there's no way I'd want someone randomly stealing it or want to have to hide like a scared mouse when the map gets AV heavy. Sort of ruins the whole reason for using it. A 'vehicle pickup' would be nice in this case, as otherwise I have little reason to spec into the things. |

cant help wondering if thats all the op and posters after are trying to protect. as soon as the other team gets av heavy or stable they will just recall on their officer fitted whatever, its just a get out of jail free card for expensive fits. it's also not right though that they are forced to spend the whole match in the vehcle.
once you spawn it should stay on the map. put it somewhere safe thats capturable maybe like a compound. makes that point or place a jucier target to attack/defend. could even make it tactical as the enemy team wont know if there's good loot there or just militia rubbish. unless they scan it first.......... |

I could see the programming/AI algorithims (fancy shmancy techy words!) being difficult, as the LAV's can get into some pretty dicey spots.
Maybe it does a check just like calling one in, but then as soon as you call it in, it gets a forcefield, that binds it in place. (still destroyable) |

Agreed. Forge guns can still hit it, swarms, railguns, whatever.

Easy, charge them for the service. Say 10% of the cost of the vehicle. Or make damage persistent. Call in a tank and it will still be damaged.
Good idea. Would love to see it. One of the things I love about being infantry is not having to worry about a vehicle and how halfway through the round I don't want to be in it any longer. |
