I have died and lost numerous vehicles because I was heavily damaged and maneuvering away, just to end up swiping or hitting with a box or edge of a wall. I don't just crash, get a stalled engine and a dent, and continue rolling for a moment... which would likely happen in any real event... I EXPLODE on impact and me and everyone dies. Enemy doesn't even get the kill. I understand if its a aerial vehicle and you're flying full speed into a flat, 90 degree obstacle.
But, considering the sci-fi quality, I think technology would allow for futuristic vehicles to take a hefty collision with an object and maybe just stall for a few moments or until it is repaired.
Example: I was reversing to avoid a orbital strike and hit one of those small jax/X shaped barriers while my vehicle health was low because of a few stray bombs. But I wasn't dead... just almost. I was going maybe.. 35mph or so... That shouldn't cause my vehicle to explode if I have little to no vehicle HP left.
Buuuuut it did.. KABOOM, because I dented my rear bumber...
GROUND VEHICLE CONTROLS ARE TERRIBLE ENOUGH!!
Just tweaking collision damage isn't enough. So how about this...
If you have little to no HP, you collide with something, and it makes your HP drop below zero (which would normally make you EXPLODE) how about the vehicle is only disabled or disabled for a few moments until it is repaired (armor reps or loggy buddy)
It should blow up AFTER THE NORMAL TIME LIMIT FROM BEING AT 0 HP and not from a small collision with something. Vehicles last about 15-20 seconds or so when the HP is at 0 and it is on fire. I've flown drop ships. I know.
If you're at 0 HP and you're in that time window of being on fire to either get your vehicle repaired or bail, LOW to MEDIUM SPEED COLLISIONS or a one/two guys with SMALL ARMS fire should not make you BLOW THE F*CK UP. It should only just disable you. Sure, Heavy arms/Rails/Swarms should be able to blow you up on impact or within a couple of short seconds.
And raise the collision speed-insta-blowup-ness up to like 60-70 MPH. So I don't explode after reversing a few yards into a small barrier, sheesh. |
