Seriously, this has to be a bug. I just was in a Skirmish Map, where the enemy team had ALL objectives (because my team sucked), but we won by depleting the enemies' clones with Precision Strikes... |

The recent patch has made precision strikes a bit too common for me as well. It doesn't even seem like an achievement to get them anymore and I have witnessed a few matches where the last half is just one big precision strike war. Four, five, six, seven strikes all going on in a few minutes. Frequently they are burned up just going after single targets with no feeling of it being wasted since another one ends up being available shortly. Meh, if it gets any worse you might as well have precision strikes set as replacement gear to throw in the grenade slots. |

I agree, the amount of WP needed to get a strike should be doubled at least. Especially if it's set to 500wp, because if you get kills with it, that's halfway to another strike!!! Also - kills from strikes shouldn't count towards getting the next strike, that's half the problem right there. AND - The time from warning to hit needs to be extended a couple seconds. Seriously. It's kinda ridiculous. |

I support precision strikes getting some kind of nerf (many of them ideally).
They're earned too easily, and they're way too powerful, especially considering these are supposed to be the weakest form or orbital strike that we'll have access to. The warning time is one of the biggest problems, as there's practically no way to get out of harm's way if it lines up with you not on the absolute edge of its radius. |

+1
They are currently far to common, I wonder if part of the issue is related to WP gained from use of a strike giving WP toward the next strike thus enabling the striker to "daisy chain" them together quickly.
In any event their frequency (and the difficulty to avoid being hit by one if you happen to be in the area of effect when it's called) makes the value of running proto gear rather dubious as the likelihood of just losing it without gaining any actual benefit from having used that fit has gone up drastically.
Precision Strikes shouldn't be so common that you can easily lose count of how many have been called in the last half of a game.

I captured all 5 points and all installations. I was given the ability to call an Orbital Strike after I captured a supply depot and I had 1350 wps at that time.
So, you can imagine how easy it may be able to be awarded with an orbital strike if you ohave a full squad of active players. 4 people get one kill that's already 400 wp. Plus, revives, installation hacks, kill assists....you get the point.

I do agree precision strikes needs to be nerfed because I saw it being spammed during some matches I was in. Maybe the cooldown should be increased by a lot. |

1st -- I can see reward-wise why this would be nice. If your team is launching 6-12 O/S per match w/ 1-4 kills per O/S, then everyone on the team gets an extra 150-1200 WP for SP calculation.
2nd -- I can see how easily abused this would be & how much easier it would be to convince an entire team to farm O/S for an entire match.
3rd -- The reward for earning warpoints is that you can use them in battle to help out. The warpoints can be saved from one match to another on a corporate level. This means that you could save up enough warpoints to make it rain for an entire match & rack up a ridiculous number of points (like in #2 except blown to a ridiculous proportion).
All said, I agree that O/S should be kill assists for the person calling in the strike -- not kills for anyone whose boots are on the ground. |

The OB or PS spam makes tanks useless this build. Same for buying any gear as whats the point with all the Ob Ps spam?? |

i say make OB and PS cost half your squads earned sp so people wont want to use it as much only to help open up objectives or take care of a mass of troops |

Well how about limiting strikes to just one per squad per game?

I think if we make the WP cost per OB / PS double]/b] what it is now and tally it so that WP gained from use of a OB / PS [b]does not contribute to earning another one then we'll have a workable system.
Some of what is happening here is that when the game goes live these things will be coming from ships that require ISK and Players to support their use. Those players and their ISK investments will be at risk so the spam won't happen also it will likely cost the Dust squads a fair sum of ISK to call down a strike (i.e. Hire someone to strike for them). In short the live game won't have near this level, so we need a beta system that brings our testing build in line with the likely "live game" average. |

A tad much there, I have to say...
A more reasonable approach, I hate to say I have to use the word again, but we may want to look at MAG. They had a cooldown for every system (a mortar took x amount of time to rearm) and a cooldown for every leader (it took y, a number much greater than x, for the specific leader to get another mortar). Plus, the ground troops could prevent it all by just destroying the mortar.
In DUST, we can use a strike whenever we 'earn' one, which feels idiotic. You want us to help you capture a planet, but only render assistance when we EARN it from you? There should be something more technical limiting it, like cooldowns and reloads... its not like killing enemy troops releases magic space dust which we make into space mortar shells. Plus, there WILL be cooldowns for the EVE ships with the more powerful Orbitals, and those ships can be killed by other EVE players, but what about the Warbarge? It fires the Precision Strikes, and it seems to have no limits in place, and probably cannot be killed once it deploys (who wants a DUST game to end after three minutes because 'the warbarge has been eradicated'?) The warpoints system is cute, but maybe we should use them for DUST Loyalty points, and their current use of 'who is helping the team the most', instead of how we get artillery strikes.
Also, in the interest of antiorbital cannons, maybe an ECM array could be set up by the defenders along with them, its purpose to keep the Warbarge under constant EWar to prevent the strikes. Just a thought. |

Ok, this was brought up in another post but I believe it needs to be said here too.
1. Add in a 2 minute cool down 2. Put in friendly fire 3. Make it so that if you kill an ally with a strike you get no points and no addition to your k/d ratio 4. You loose 1 from your k/d ratio for each ally killed via strike 5. Stop all squad leader commission for the rest of the battle for the one who ordered the strike 6. The battle end results show how many of your allies you killed and who it was.
That will make people be way more careful where they drop a strike and how often they can do it. It will also encourage mic usage in order to keep allies out of the blast radius. I think this is sufficiently restrictive without being unfair to anyone. |
