Ya I got alot of words I want to say about how lovely of a position CCP just put drop ships in.
Basically there is a ceiling height that forces you in forge range. They destroyed resist so they do not help you at all. then they boost AV so it just rips you a new one if you get hit by it. You get no points besides for kills that your gunners get if you ever get a chance to gun.
So CCP what the hell where you thinking. hell I learned how to fly last build with how weak they where and had the ability to hit the ceiling on forge and AV when people started after me now there is no safe place besides behind a building in your teams safe zone.
it was epic having drop ship battles flying high low all over the place now it is like hey guys you are ****** because noobs cant handle epic pilots anymore.
Ya I have been so far happy supportive. And well ya now I just need to vent because dropships was my love it was very fun to fly
Sorry but had to vent guys I am pretty unhappy. ya one of those things that just hit the nerve.
So drop suit pilots vent here with me. It is needed It seems like it is not worth putting a single point into them because it will be a very fast SP sink. |

A Flight ceiling so low you can't avoid forge guns?
That was the only way to avoid being shot out of the sky in five seconds.
And flight means altitude. I'm supposed to spec into hover cars now?
Crap. I suppose I should go for Forge guns since that seems to be what they want. |

Really disappointed. AND to top it all of they give the Aerial Vehicles Active fuel injector 50 CPU and 625 PG req. There is no fricken dropship that has that fitting ability.
CCP you did alot of great things in this build but You just really showed some major hate on dropships hardcore here. |

I never understood the whining about that in the first place, since you can just shoot the bloody things right off, and making dropships useless to counter a minor issue is in no way a solution. I guess I'll just work on the base skills that overlap with dropships and then the AR in hopes that my beloved ships are one day restored.
I flew as much as I could at the end of Precursor despite the handicap and I was going to go right for them this build too, but they sound like an empty SP sinkhole now.

CCP you told me personally that you were committed to making piloting a viable career path.

AGAIN? the flight mechanics WERE very realistic.. now?.. now you can F'ing put ur drop ship sideways and it goes UP... UP.. what? thats right UP.. not sideways.. .UP if you tip the ship forward. it stops in place.. nah man frak gravity.. it hovers in place.. even though all the jets are facing in one direction... it use to fly like a helicopter.. BRING BACK THE OLD FLIGHT MECHANICS.. |

I was actually able to make out and stay ahead of the game the end of precursor. If you ever road gunner with me you knew why I was able to provide very good positioning with my drop ship and make it impossible for swarms to do anything to me. And would hit the roof when people decided they where all going to try and AV me forcing them being stuck having AV fits against assault rifles. and would come back down after they all felt safe letting my gunners feel safe. and then when enemies had drop ships you could both hit the roof out of AV range and have epic battles always ending in my enemy going down in a burning flame by either going out of bounds or getting turned into a lovely snack by my gunners.
I do not see dropships a viable route this build. The SP you gain of them is inferior to what I can make on the ground killing people even when I give my gunner 40+ kills. They added no other ways to gain SP via spawn unit or dropping people off near objectives. They gave drop ships no good toys this build just nothing fun it seems. |

I was just getting into Dropships the past few days (went through 10 or 20 of them last night :D), I was even getting pretty good at barrel rolls, but this new build really makes them... not as good. Honestly, a flight ceiling is not the right way to go, I don't care what "issue" they're trying to fix. What are they going to do when Fighters come out?
Anyway, I spent 300k ISK on a couple Vipers today, I don't think I'll be putting any more ISK in them. Tanks, Dropships, what's next? |

Nothing. Nothing is next. We're out of vehicles. Task were nerfed, dropships were nerfed LAV's and LLV's are currently a joke. They couldn't assault a fly. They're more like jeeps and we should have a different kind of vehicle as an LAV. Back to the point there's no vehicles left. |

i can get on 2 of the 3 levels buildings,on one u have to take advantage of the ship momentum and bouncing and the other,u hover bout one inch,i had to call in a lav to flip my dropship once lol |

I support this idea. I don't fly ships myself but the right answer to balance questions is to make an effective counter not to "level" everything.
Good AV should rip HAV (and even more so LAV) apart Good AA should do the same to dropships. A good AR or sniper rifle should do the same to infantry.
What should NOT happen is a gun or guns being "balanced" so that they can do all of the above. If you don't have anyone on your team running with AR infantry should cause you fits, same for no AA against ships or AV against HAV.
Each battlefield role should excel at an aspect and fall short generally. That's compelling gameplay and promotes teamwork, the "make everything equal" method is a way to create a dull and repetitive experience that won't hold up to the test of time. |

Here's a little story that needs to be heard:
How I Avenged My Prometheus It was an afternoon at Ashland and I pulled out a Prometheus because DS flying is just kind of irresistible. Had the nerfed missile launchers, but at flight height, blasters are pointless. Then, this forge and LAV with the Gurista's missile launcher gang up on me and within some shots, they got me. "The sons of bitches", I thought. "They won't get away with this....not this time."
I was saddened at the loss of my Prometheus, but vengeance was due, and wallowing in pity by returning to militia gear wouldn't make it better. I pulled out my Forge. I was on the hunt for the damn LAV firstly. There were a couple, but I couldn't find them. However, I popped around 4 or 5 players by Forge Sniping, like a low down cretin, but it only suited the matter. Lo and behold though, a stupid LAV tried to drive away, but crashed into a wall like a stoned fly, sure died like one too. Needless to say, no matter who shot me down, their team got their just deserves and the one who was just about to kill me, as I was out of ammo and had no secondary, didn't get the chance because the game ended.
I wanted to bring this up because with the downgrading of dropships, one must compensate, and teach those who use the forge, that the forge is very devoid of skill, and that's a fact. I use the forge once in a while, and I find it more efficient in terms of skill, damage, and ISK than any other weapon. All us DS pilots must rise up and resist the forge, with the forge.

@ sin3 yea ccp tends to do the wrong fixes to problems tbh ppl exploited remote reppin the MCC (good tactic btw) and farming WPs so they lowered the ceiling but its too low
with the missile nerf dropships need some height back |
