Alright Mercs, I'm going to give you a reality check on economics right quick.
Some of you are asking, "Merc pack on sale? Why the hell should I do that when I already have one?"
The same reason many of you have multiple skinweave dropsuits of the same type and should -not say anything about it-. Seriously. You got five skinweave heavy dropsuits? Don't freaggin mention a thing about it.
"Aeon Amadi, you crazy mayne, why you wantin' me t'not say 'nuffin 'bout my rowdy 'bouty people porridge maker?"
Let's take a brief look at your merc pack items:
GÇóDUST 514 Closed Beta access GÇó40,000 AUR ($20 / Gé¼18 / -ú14) GÇó30 day Active Skill Booster ($15 / Gé¼13.50 / -ú10.50) GÇóIn-battle Items (Total Value $15 / Gé¼13.50 / -ú10.50 ) GÇó'Dragonfly' Scout dropsuit x 1 (Permanent Item) GÇó'Toxin' ICD-9 Submachine Gun x 1 (Permanent Item)
Okay, to hell with the closed beta access - that's about useless when we're so close to open beta and if you're reading this than you already have it.
40,000 Aurum? Well, here's part of that reality check kiddos - you're paying $20 for that anyway so you -might as well- get all the goodies that come with the promotional package while you're at it.
30 Day Active Skill Booster - Are you freaking kidding me? You realize that $15 you're spending on this is actually the same price you're spending on an Eve Online subscription and you're getting it for -FREE- on top of all the other goodies? You know what this thing does? It gives you 50% more skill-points from battles - why the hell would you NOT want this? Why the hell would you NOT want more than one stockpiled for release????
Dragonfly Dropsuit - "But Aeon, I already have one of these.." Yeah, and you know what? This is the only way you can get the damned thing. Remember when the first pokemon movie came out and they had the 23k gold slab plates at burger king? What was it, like, $5 to get the thing in whatever meal it came with? You can't get them anymore and if a collector wants one how do you think he's going to get it?
To elaborate on this, you have it - I want it - it's not in production anymore so how much am I going to pay for it? Answer: A lot. Considering it's on par with a Standard Gallente Scout Suit (type-1) that's a PERMANENT ITEM it's a damn good deal, and it's going to be worth even more when it's no longer available and people want them.
'Toxin' Submachine gun - Same rules apply with the weapon. People use this thing all the time because it's just a damn good gun and it's not going anywhere if you lose a clone - you have an INFINITE amount of them. That makes it powerful in it's own right just being that I'm saving myself, what, 6,000 isk everytime I die, combined with the 10,000 isk suit? Let's do the math on that.
'x' deaths multiplied by 'y' matches (per day) multiplied by 365 days in a year = ????
The Answer? A lot of freaggin isk saved. It doesn't seem like much now but after you realize, "Damn, I'm losing 30,000,000 isk a year because I don't have a Mercenary Pack!" Some of you cynical people are questioning if it's really that much but hey, it's 30 million you didn't have before so what's your beef dude? Not to mention the time and effort of restocking all of it...
EVEN THEN (and this is the most important part) YOU'RE GETTING THREE PERMANENT MAG DROPSUITS.
So, point being, you're going to spend that much money on the aurum by itself - which you are then (inevitably) going to use on the skill boosters so that you can keep up with everyone else. This is a -great- value and the fact that you can stack up the items for release just means that you'll eventually have the opportunity to be a Dust version of the Eve market moguls that thrive on supply and demand.
KEEP the items. SAVE the items. SELL the items. REAP the rewards. |

Yes it is - and the fact that we're getting the passive skill booster as well you can just spend your Aurum on that and skyrocket your progress beyond anyone else.
Buy 12 of these things and you've got 480,000 Aurum, which is about 68 7-Day Boosters. There are -about- 52 weeks in a year so you've already got yourself two years worth of boosted SP. |

Needless Sacermendor wrote:I don't imagine you'll be able to fit both passive and active boosters at the same time if that's what you ment ... it'll be one or the other, they both fit in the single "Skill Booster" slot, what the spikes and clusters are is anybody's guess but the boosters will both fit only in the booster slot.
One or other of the spikes n clusters will probs give a temporary boost to certain skills, like an extra 10% to Mechanics giving you more Armor bonus from that skill in the same way the drugs work in Eve.
Spikes/Clusters are going to be temporary things such as a temporary 1,000,000 SP that lasts for 'x' amount of time or things like Mechanics 3, Engineering 3, and Electronics 3 that lasts for 'x' amount of time. At least, this is my theory based on what I've been told.
As far as having an Active and a Passive Skill Booster, it's not so unbelievable what with Eve Online having 10 implants at once. |

It's not -always- going to be included in the mercenary packs. I severely doubt it will be available after release.
Also, welcome back to contradiction. Still haven't told me your corporation name by the way - I've been eagerly awaiting a challenge. |
