Everyone who has ever been repeatedly crushed by a LAV will agree that the whole implementation of this vehicle is broken.
First, it is a open vehicle and the shield mechanics are idiotic.. At best it should give some bonus to sig radius, not invulnerability to fire.
A shield should be a thin field adhering to the countours of the vehicle, not a sphere surrounding the vehicle, giving everyone in it a immunity to fire, that is what tanks do by virtue of their enclosed cabins... If you argue it is a sphere surrounding the vehicle, you argue against the gun in the back, as it must fire OUT of this shield.. Can you say ricochet event from hell?
Example of the stupidity of the mechanics, a driver sits on top of an objective and lets his gunner defend said objective, good so far. A sniper on the ridge takes a shot at the immobile driver, targeting his head, unfortunately, the round hits the shield surrounding the vehicle and the driver blithely ignores it, at it does nothing to his vehicles shield. Shunting the kinetic energy off harmlessly.
The driver then takes off and runs an enemy over, killing him instantly.. What?? I thought the shield shunted and minimized kinetic damage, as it did for the driver? Why isn't the enemy thrown thirty meters backwards when he connects with the shield around the vehicle? Draining his shield and maybe stripping off some of his armor? But certainly it should not end in CRUSHED.. If so, the sniper on the ridge should be able to whack occupants of the vehicle, as the mechanics of CRUSH would indicate that no such field extends around the vehicle.. Flame away, psychopathic motorists.. |

Really? I have taken shots at still drivers and never killed a driver while in a LAV, even with a direct shot to the head.. Dropship gunners and LAV gunners, but, never an LAV driver, guess I need to try a little harder.. Perhaps my connection is at fault.. But my argument against crushing stands, the shield should blunt the impact.. Just as Dropships bouncing off the ground should be a very risky situation for pilots.. |
