Screw graphics I just want the damn thing to work proper at release or at open beta.
Grahpics should always take a backseat to functionality when prioritizing. |

If they say its a AAA game, I expect both. I would be dissapointed if the current graphics are not improved for release. |

As I would normally agree to some extend, these graphics are god awful, I play games literally behind a 40" screen and I haven't seen graphics this bad in a long long time.
I am an eve online player and I was really looking out for this game until I came in game and was socked.
Gameplay > Graphics but this is way to extreme, its probably worse on my screen as it is well below the native resolution which makes it look even worse. |

Thankfully, it has pretty good graphics, even pre e3 they were decent enough. In the long run, game play > graphics though. Pretty good graphics? ATM is it among the worst of all PS3 games, even those that came out in 2006/7. Yeah but your wrong. why would you make a cliam like that then you can easily debunk your statement with a quick google image search of ps3 games from before there were normal maps in 2006? Warhawk looks terrible compared to dust and that game got a great score, 8/10 on graphics in 2006. Don't come in here trying to say dust looks like a ps2 game, obvious troll is obvious |

Rayan Storm wrote:I wouldn't care if this looked like Star Wars Battlefront II if it was half as fun. Which it is. In the end, graphics only take a game so far. Its the gameplay that counts.
Look at UnCharted 3 for example. The gameplay is fantastic. It helps that the visuals are so great too. Now look at MineCraft. Cubes, and yet the game is so popular Now look at Ace Combat Assualt Horizon. Fantastic graphics, but sucky gameplay.

Personally I could careless about Hi res graphics, if it mean smoother consistent gameplay. But since I need newbs to shoot in the face, I vote for pretty graphics. It's unfortunate, but most people are dumb & first impressions are everything. |

we allready know they are keeping the file sizes small to limit the download during beta. You don't want an 8Gb Dust 514 download. OK? We'll get that later, hell even the HD remake of SotC is 7Gbs and that's a super high rez HD remake of a ps2 game.
Dust is being kept small in size for beta, deal with it. |

Nomed Deeps wrote:Just our of curiosity, if CCP had to decide between (1) high res visuals with continuing lag and time-out issues or (2) slightly lower res visuals which totally eliminated lag, ran at a higher FPS, and improved overall playability, which would you prefer? I know some people have problems with the current visuals, but look at games like MindCraft that opt for playability over visuals. Personally, I think I would gladly sacrifice a bit on visuals if DUST was able to live up to its hype in playability. the visuals aren't what cause the huge lag spikes, it's the server they are running on. before this version there wasn't any loss of FPS. it's also the reason for the random invalid glitches as the server loses your packet.
also i would like to see them remove some of these obnoxious filters. they are obnoxious and don't improve the graphics at all. textures would be much appreciated. it's the unreal engine come on step it up. |

Most true gamers will agree: Gameplay > graphics Honestly while the graphics in Dust are borderline Playstation 2 graphics (maybe even worse in some cases) I really don't care too much. Sure it would be nice to have everything nicely polished and running smoothly, but if the choice was to have polished and not run smoothly, then to hell with graphics!
Gamer here... actually no graphics, no game!! graphics=gameplay |
