You know the x10 aurum change went in this morning? So you have 10 times the aurum you had yesterday, and the costs have gone up x 10. |

Welp, if $20 = 40,000 aurum, that means that 1 Cent = 20 Aurum.

Basically from a quick look it's just adding a 0 on the end of everything including the amount of AUR you have. Sure it looks like it's expensive but theoretically it's the same price. |

I doubt there will ever be a transfer of AUR between EVE and Dust, there is really no reason for it. |

My guess is they are inflating the value of AUR in preparation for a new, much larger range of AUR items. Right now we likely only have a very small fraction of the inventory that will be available later. If a top level weapon only costs say 5 AUR, and you add 10 additional levels of lower end items below that, you'd have to start getting into fractional currency to be in line with the perceived value of each item and what people would be willing to pay. If you inflate everything by a factor of 10 and your top weapon is now 50 AUR, you can price less desirable items anywhere from 1 to 49 without having to get into fractions.
This is a very good thing for us as players, really. It creates a broader range of prices and the ability to price things cheaper! (In theory, that is. If they don't price anything lower than 10 AUR, the point is moot and we'll probably be getting screwed, lol.) |

Actually yes I am, I just didn't look at it better, I saw the prices then posted this thread. I forgot about the denomination that was going on. Jesus F Christ give me a break man!! I'm brighter than some of these morons who post threads asking the same crap repeatedly, and to play dust/eve you need brains. If I wasn't very bright I'd be asking how to play. |

From a business stand point this is exactly it. They basically say this in the post about the currency change.
Also you are paying real money for something that is nothing but intangible codes of numbers and letters. Your getting screwed no matter what the price is. lol |

Hmmm. This does complicate things. But only very slightly as far as i can tell. (I'm not an EVE player).
I mean, fictional currency is really just arbitrary; not based on any particular thing, so there's no reason why CCP can't just apply the x10 factor of Aurum to EVE as well and just adjust the costs of things to reflect that. It's certainly something they can change in a single maintenance period without disrupting anything. Maybe they will allow Aurum exchange across the two, maybe they won't. If they did make this x10 change in both games simultaneously it would've stirred a whole bunch of speculation so maybe they are just testing the x10 factor in Dust first and will implement it in EVE later to quell the speculators for the time being.
I wouldn't say this currency adjustment is in any way a deathblow to inter-game currency exchange. Just have to wait it out and see what CCP have up their sleeve. The market is just as vital as the FPS gameplay and with the fact that EVE and Dust players can be in the same corporations i trust they will create a system that works in the best way possible. |

If I had a nickle for every time I died in a FPS online game, I would be one rich son of a ...
In just the ~15 days I have been playing the beta, only a few hours a night, I would already have made about $25. CCP sure has a racket going here, I mean if people are willing to spend real money on a buggy beta and lose 5-10 cents per death (even if its due to unavoidable lag, being spawned right in front of an enemy with no chance of fighting back, or by falling through the map or something), then I can only imagine the cash flow when the final games releases.
They just might be onto something with this free-2-play micro transaction stuff. |

They are into something and that's good. If we want this game to happen, that is.
BTW, people are not really paying anything for this beta - as you might remember every AUR is reimbursed on every reset. Including the launch of the game. |
