Before you guys use the generic "Its just a beta, it can still be fixed", no. Beta is pretty much the finished concept, just a way to get rid of all the bugs.
First of all, I would like to address the graphics. They are ******* horrendous. The drawing distances are quite small, so when you move, you notice things pop in and out of existence. The textures are horrid as well, seriously. What the ****. If you are making an exlusive, make sure you don't just slap some jack of all trades engine on it, and call that it. You have to optimize it. Look at starhawk. It looks ******* amazing, yet you can put 64 structures in each game, have multiple hawks in the air, have 32 players in each game and still have little to no lag (towards the actual game, not connection). Why. Optimization, that's why. And need I mention Gears Of War? Usually if a game doesn't have nice textures/polys/voxels then it has a pretty engine and efficient. This has none
The concept of the game is amazing though, I cannot fault you on that. A FPS that affects Bars'n'Charts:The Game is a great idea, add to that an econemy that is affected by players, while still appealing to casuals (explosions and guns) and serious gamers (hard to earn skills and ISK, have to keep up to date with market) is great. Add to that customization. You got a great mix.
But again, you still took a giant dump on a great idea. The controls are horrid. Why did you have to put the acceleration and turning on the same stick, **** *****, what are you thinking, and that you want to seem different by not using the generic controls of triangle to change weapon, circle to duck, R2 to grenade, L2 for special, ect. No it doesn't make you different, it makes your controls clunky and ********.
The connection lag is something that can be fixed in a beta, I will not fault you on that.
The gameplay itself is pretty bad as well. The way you deal with range limits is just stupid. I see you are trying to go down the realism road a bit, but why have you said "SMGs are short range weapons, what does that mean?" "They are reccomded for use in short range?" "No, it means they cannot shoot further than a meter" "But thats not how physics works, it only gets weaker at that point, not stop completely" "Shut up, i know what I am doing *Scribbles on a peice of paper". Anyways, I'm saying lrn2continuity. Don't pick and choose what are real, and whats not (hitting an LAV with a rocket kills it, but all guns have short range).
There is no tutorial. They pretty throw you in head first, and with your ****** up controls, it would be nice to know what you are doing before I lose 100,000 ISK in a single battle, only to find out things have limited usage.
Also some spaceship missions would be nice too. Given that Eve is a space game. Maybe you start off in their main ship, and can man the guns, or enter a ship.
Anyways. Just saying that my opinion is that its a marvellous idea, but jesus **** *****, you could not have ****** up a better opportunity. |

Lol bro. Those aren't REAL betas... Look at PS2... Look at all the glitches, errors, bugs, etc. it has. THAT is a real beta... Not a demo like the BF3 or Transformers FoC betas. A real beta is there for people to fix the game and make it better. |

I just want you to know, I didn't read any of your thread.
We're only testing the basic mechanics, they haven't revealed a good chunk of what the game is actually going to be. |

BTW this is a CCP product no such thing as 'finished.'
Just stick around for next build or come back in a year see if you change your tune then. |

But I wasn't talking about a demo, I was talking about how CCP **** up a good idea.
When I played the pulic beta of starhawk I got the idea that a beta is suppose to be the endgame idea with the engine, and gameplay wrapped up, but just testing out the possible technical glitches and bugs.
Where as this feels like you're testing the mechanics of a game idea with not textures and minimal polys. |

What Starhawk calls a beta we call a prerelease demo
What Starhawk calls an alpha we call a beta around here
What we call an alpha around here is what ccp calls sales pitch to the boss on how to develop the game. Usually looks like mine craft in graphics. |

7/10 troll post -- particularly liked your use of "Bars'n'Charts:The Game."
Also, physics ftw. Velocity/energy @ 0 meters is not equal to Velocity/energy @ 50 meters or @ 100 meters. I'd imagine that lost level of energy would translate into stopping power. Once it gets below a certain threshold, the weapon simply can't damage the armor or shields. +1 for imaginary powersuits that generate a low level personal force field, enhance combat abilities, and can be upgraded with nanotechnology to let them automatically repair damage inflicted. I guess they're kind of tough. |

This is my first time playing a Beta, knew what I would be dealing with when I started. Even though the game upsets me now and again, I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I don't see the need to be **** this, **** that. Maybe I have a higher patience level. Or, maybe, I've been waiting for this game since its announcement back in 09, that I'll deal with all the glitches, bugs, lag issues, so on and so forth. |

I totally agree with your post about weapon range. They should have decreased accuracy and penetration, not just simply fail to work 1 inch out of your range. Making an equation for bullet drop and velocity loss over distance is simple enough. Maybe none of their programmers have taken a physics class, or shot a real gun before.
I have to agree that they game really doesn't offer anything outside to tying into a game that most of us don't play. I'm all for a good shooter, but they didn't even get the basics right.
As for all betas being for fixing bugs and internet connections, while neglecting fundamental tweaks in design, I agree with you there too. I have played hundreds of betas and none were any different. It's a bit naive to think that every new beta that comes out will be the one that was different. Alpha testing is where the fundamental game design is changed. Beta is just making the game workable so they can make cash. |

Well Fellas this is Troll/im leaving/rage/flame thread number.....crap how many threads are there? 0.0 Anyway LOL dude go play EVE EVe was alot liek this when it first started and EVE a decade later is one of the Mest MMo;s you can get on the pc I played BF3 Beta. I loled at it lets be real it wasnt no beta it was a demo why? because the same issues that plagued the beta carried over to the game. its Excatly this Attitufe on why MMO's Arent released for Game Consoles Often. Because the attitude of thinking its a glorified demo. Dust will release this DEcemeber so i hear. Give it from that time and summer 2013 i bet it will have changed signifcantly.
Dont let the door hit you on the way out by the way
P.S.
Did i mentiion this is one of MANY flame/troll/leaving game/rage threads. was going to count yours but i lost track. idiot. |

BF3's real beta was on PC. Transformers FOC never claimed to be a beta it was a DEMO. Planetside 2 does have bugs yes but still runs smoother than Dust. |

Derp much? Theres a reason EVE is the thinking man's MMO, and Dust will be the thinking man's FPS. |
