First of all, I would like to address the graphics. They are ******* horrendous. The drawing distances are quite small, so when you move, you notice things pop in and out of existence. The textures are horrid as well, seriously. What the ****. If you are making an exlusive, make sure you don't just slap some jack of all trades engine on it, and call that it. You have to optimize it. Look at starhawk. It looks ******* amazing, yet you can put 64 structures in each game, have multiple hawks in the air, have 32 players in each game and still have little to no lag (towards the actual game, not connection). Why. Optimization, that's why. And need I mention Gears Of War? Usually if a game doesn't have nice textures/polys/voxels then it has a pretty engine and efficient. This has none
The concept of the game is amazing though, I cannot fault you on that. A FPS that affects Bars'n'Charts:The Game is a great idea, add to that an econemy that is affected by players, while still appealing to casuals (explosions and guns) and serious gamers (hard to earn skills and ISK, have to keep up to date with market) is great. Add to that customization. You got a great mix.
But again, you still took a giant dump on a great idea. The controls are horrid. Why did you have to put the acceleration and turning on the same stick, **** *****, what are you thinking, and that you want to seem different by not using the generic controls of triangle to change weapon, circle to duck, R2 to grenade, L2 for special, ect. No it doesn't make you different, it makes your controls clunky and ********.
The connection lag is something that can be fixed in a beta, I will not fault you on that.
The gameplay itself is pretty bad as well. The way you deal with range limits is just stupid. I see you are trying to go down the realism road a bit, but why have you said "SMGs are short range weapons, what does that mean?" "They are reccomded for use in short range?" "No, it means they cannot shoot further than a meter" "But thats not how physics works, it only gets weaker at that point, not stop completely" "Shut up, i know what I am doing *Scribbles on a peice of paper". Anyways, I'm saying lrn2continuity. Don't pick and choose what are real, and whats not (hitting an LAV with a rocket kills it, but all guns have short range).
There is no tutorial. They pretty throw you in head first, and with your ****** up controls, it would be nice to know what you are doing before I lose 100,000 ISK in a single battle, only to find out things have limited usage.
Also some spaceship missions would be nice too. Given that Eve is a space game. Maybe you start off in their main ship, and can man the guns, or enter a ship.
Anyways. Just saying that my opinion is that its a marvellous idea, but jesus **** *****, you could not have ****** up a better opportunity.
