LAV can be very difficult to drive especially when you have a long distance to drive with many sharp turns and every turn results in you doing a donut or spinning out please make the driving more realistic and not as if dust mercs are driving giants stick of butter |

I agree, they are overly sensitive and every surface feels like you are driving on a sheet of ice |

This makes me laugh, but it is true, however, I have no skills trained up for vehicles. I'm fine with the 'butter' feeling if advancing vehicle skills gives substantially noticeable handling improvement etc. |

+1 on that
and seriously
the vehicles should be more attached to the ground. the sliding is rather ridiculous. maybe use one button for the gas and another for brake and reverse and a hand brake button. all in one analog is kinda low end driving sim feel to me |

i agree to a point. because you learn how a car drives doesn't make the car better. maybe a module or something for better gravity feel. but just advancing skills doesn't make a 1979 pinto any better handling of a car. it takes suspension upgrades, tire upgrades. traction control mods, chasis reinforcement, etc.. |

True that, please revise driving behavior of the LAV. Most annoying to me is the fact that after each little elevation you jump over, you have a 90% chance of doing a 180-¦ spin. How is the LAV supposed to be fast and hard to catch, if every little bumb in the ground makes you a sitting duck for several seconds while you're getting back on track again?
And please do something about that screen shake after every gentle touch to a wall or similar obstacle. It's simply unbearable. |

You know what the LAV driving in Dust 514 reminds me of?

I agree, the driving must go! In other games i thought i was pretty ******* good at driving. In dust im ******* embarrassed when i have to drive someone to any objective. I feel better once they get out halfway to the objective because they think im r et ar de d. |

First, the things the actually are broken and need fixing.
- Controls.
The LAV in particular and ground vehicles in general currently can't sharp turn (stick at 3 or 9 o'clock) without stopping. This needs a new control scheme.
- Weight/mass.
LAV seem to lack weight in the current build. This is something I know CCP are aware of and I believe it is being addressed in the next build.
- Jumpiness.
This is probably due to physics and the low vehicle weight currently. There may be other adjustments but I believe this will go away with the fix to the previous point.
Now to what's actually not broken. For any of you not aware of conversion calculations, I'll throw some numbers at you. The basic LAV speed is 40m/s. That's metres per second. That's very different to miles or KM per hour. In order to convert between them you simply multiply m/s by 3.6 and you get km/h. To get from km/h to m/h you multiply by 5/8 (five eights). So what do our numbers give us? 40 m/s = 144 KM/h = 90 m/h
Now would you really expect any ground vehicle to do sharp turns at 144 KM/h? Seriously? This isn't a matter of vehicle controls, it's a matter of you guys trying to do the impossible. You should really consider yourselves lucky the LAV doesn't flip over, explode and kill you for doing such crap.
And BTW, a fully nanofiber'd militia LAV can go 52 m/s. So 52 m/s = 187.2 KM/h = 117 m/h. So again, seriously?!
That is all. |

If you use a keyboard to drive you have different keys for these. W is gas, S is brakes / reverse and spacebar is the hang brake. It helps a lot, but you still spin wildly out of control if your wheels leave the ground at all.
As far as the realism argument goes I don't think we can base anything off of a real world interpretation of a number in the game. All that can tell us is that the scale of the units in the game is a bit whacky compared to real life. What is important is that they have a functional role in the game. With the controls being really wonky there is no real role for them to fill on the battlefield that can't be far more easily accomplished some other way. And before someone says it, disposable taxi isn't a real role because only a vehicle that costs nothing can fill it. A pricey, upgraded LAV like the methana needs to have something it can contribute to the team aside from performing hilarious donuts and making the passengers laugh on comms about how the driver is under the influence and needs to be pulled over. |
