Good Day My Fellow Dust Bunnies,
Well its a new week and time to discuss the new build with the community. First we need to thank all of the previous players who for the last year have been in beta and testing for CCP. My hats off to you guys and girls for getting us to this point in the game. Its thanks to many players through hours and hours of testing that we have gotten this far. Now we enter the last phase of testing prior to the game being released to the public. This last phase of testing is by far the MOST IMPORTANT of the testing we have done for the game to date. This last build and the testing we shall do, could make or break this game we have come love.
As a gamer for many years, I have seen many games come and go. But I have seen good if not great games that don't get a great start out of the gate when they finally bring the game out. This can greatly hinder a game if the first impression of the game is bad. Look at games like Brink, game looked great, sounded like it would all that and a bag of chips. But because of terrible testing, rushed game design the game died very fast when it arrived and has never made its way back, even after drastic changes to the game to get it where it should be.
Players young and old, the first time you get into a new game it has to WOW you and not give you fits of rage because of the issues. If we fail, we may lose the best chance Dust has to change the market of FPS shooters, because we the players of this game, the testers to beat all testers have not done our job well enough.
But I have hope Dust Bunnies, I have hope that all of us will work our bunny tails off and get this game to be the best.
Now there is going to be a few ways for us to test this last build and make sure we get as many issues/bugs out of the way. You can go the regular testing way of playing and finding issues and then reporting them in the correct place in the forums:
Tech support and Bugs
Or you can openly discuss them here in the open forums for all of your fellow players to give feedback on.
Or you can abuse the game, openly going around with the most OP weapon, gear, items or vehicles and then having the backlash of using them come to the forums.
Now both of these work for the benefit of the community, if you look at the big picture. The players that report little issues, like terrain issues, menu problems, voice chat issues, grouping issue. These are the small parts that we as players see everyday, they are small in size but when you add them all up this is what gives players impressions of a game good or bad.
The players that are "abusing the game" are also testing the game just as much as the other testers are. But they are working on the OP side of bugs and issues, don't discount these players. They have the hardest job in the game, they must abuse to game to get the game fixed. Now whether you do this on purpose or not, you are indeed helping us all. Even now we are testing the nerf to tanks and AV weapons for just this reason. Again we the players must respond to CCP in a way that helps and not hinders the developers, we must see these abuses as just really good testing for the future of Dust.
I strongly suggest you find ways to help the devs, find anything and everything you can with this next build and report it.
What we do in the coming weeks will shape the game for years to come, work hard my fellow Dusters and lets make a great game.

Well I see that as being an issue with the current server, which when we go to TQ should no longer be an issue and many of those freezes will go away.
Also this is not that bad, seriously play DCUO for the last two years, then you will no what hard freezes that have destroyed PS3's are really like. Of our league 3 players burnt PS3's down due to the game issues.
Iron, I know you have done plenty of testing over the last year. What other suggestions would you offer players to help out. |

I'd like to see the PvE be really fun, as a separate part of the game. But at the same time not be a HUGE part of Dust.
I do want new players to have a place to test new ideas, builds and have fun. But this game is based on player vs player interactions and the fights we have with each other.
Any other part of the game you would like to see tested or things we have missed.

I'm alright with most of your post, minus this.
There is no way 2nd build swarm launcher abusers, or this builds tank abusers, in any way, shape or form, had it "hard", except maybe the state of their E-peens.... |

As for suggestions of how to help test or continue to test? pace yourself slower don't burn out so fast, pick a subject you want to test and test it fully, have more fun trying to break the game than play the game. |

But thats just it Dust Fiend, they did. If you abuse something in game, tons of players then come back and report this on the forums. Now if you ask for a tweak to the item, power, weapon then you are doing a good job at fixing the issue. But we the players at the same time can over do this and ask for a nerf and then have that issue become worse as usually devs will over do the tweak and nerf it to oblivion.
So even though players are going for the EPEEN of the month, in their own ways they are doing as much help to Dust as we the players who are doing normal testing. They don't see it, but they really are the ones that push the game further. Also IMO Dust Fiend if we get those issues of of the way now, before the release then we get a better game for it.
Think back if had not found out about Swarm launchers and had abusers then we would still have the issue, if tanks did not abuse the field and make it a one man tank show, then we would not have them better adjusted for game launch.
Again testers are getting to the issues, but in their own unique way.

As much as we all like beating each other up and getting K/D up or Warpoints, we are here to be the best testers we can for the REAL game to come out.

Good post STB
And you are correct thatplayerswho try to exploit or just overuse the most unbalanced game mechanics do contibute to game development. Just more slowly and in a less efficient manner than testing, recognizing the imbalance, reporting and then moving on to other issues.
And I personally feel for Saber and folks like him who have contributed tons of feedback and community support. You are all respected and appreciated. Thanks.
In fact, iron wolf's advice to slow down your character progression grind and try new things is well taken
I have been having trouble staying in the black, isk-wise while running my best gear. And, fwiw, my best gear is not good gear, not even advanced or proto
So lately I've been trying different suits, tactics and ideas. It has opened my game up and allowed me to appreciate other roles and mechanics.
Thanks for the testing reminder |

I'm not saying it's not important for them to abuse things, because it is.
I'm saying it's not hard, at all. It's actually rather easy. |

I know you guys are sick of hearing it, but I gotta say it. Unless these issues are addressed this game will not have the impact and balance it needs to remain a stable game:
Vehicle damage zones, infantry climbing tanks should be able to damage them, parts of vehicles not destroyed should still be functional (turrets, cannon, mobility, hull) and destroying parts should yield SP, more ammo and capacity for swarm launchers. You want more details look at my other posts, it's in most of them.
Apparently I've made a few people mad by pushing the topic in any situation that the topic is relevant, so this is my last time mentioning it. I'll leave it alone now, no need to hate on me anymore. I just feel very strongly that this is something that would take this game from a really good tactical FPSMMO into the territory of legendary. There, I'm done. Not another word on it from me.
We also need a better after battle scoring system so the support units don't feel left out by everyone drooling over their k/d ratio, and more opportunities for support units to earn SP. |

Interesting, I seem to recall the league name but not your's in particular. I didn't continue long after the mega server though. I was in Versatile Gaming when it was the scourge of The Killing Joke, but then I quit with several of its top players to go to SWTOR when it came out. Poor Vg disbanded I hear lol. |

Ah Brink, the clan matches lasted for such a short time...what happened to that game makes me sad. Devs and publisher dropping the ball and the player base was to shortsighted and lazy to sort it out themselves.
It's posts like these (what I referred as "table manners" in Quickgloves thread) that will help turn around your guys image if that's what you all want. So +1 for the attitude and the post.
Break the game ppl. Try something different and break that to. Then report and discuss not cry and stomp your feet. Separate emotion from posting, there have been way too many ***** fits already and that eats up dev/GM time trying to separate the crap from the feedback. |

The three biggest issues I have encountered are the hard freezes, getting booted from matches and unable to join again, and the glitch of trying to join but the game seems to "freeze" (still movement on screen, just no progression). All issues have been reported and I have provided them in my feedback.
I did encounter and issue last night where my rifle refused to reload even though I could move and the game progressed. It was resolved when I was gunned down, however. :)
I'm sure there are more, but I'm only 4 days into the testing. |

Remember when Brink looked like the end all be all, it was supposed to be the next Team Fortress 2.. Ugh I had such high hopes for that game. Then it came out and I was like.. WTF All due to poor testing and no beta.

No these are all good issues to discuss. Now today there was a new update to fix grouping issues. So lets hope its better now.
I have had the reload issue twice in the last few months. Yeah just have to die and it goes away.
I had a game last night that I was 11-1 on and never got the SP's from it. The circle to show SP worked and I got ISK but not a single SP for it. That was odd.
+1 for support of testing.

I never get the SP from those matches. I'm sure there are weapon imbalances, but I'm still on the standard assault rifle and getting slaughtered by GEKs, even though I'm mid-level shield and armor in a type II drop. Not sure if that is a glitch, or just being outgunned by firepower.

If I am not mistaken most of the issues are taken care of in the next build. So dev commentary is not needed for those issues.
Also I am talking about the new build coming (best guess 23rd of this month), which will be the last big build before the game goes live. That is the one we need to work on the most, to make sure when the game goes live we are at not having issues, issues that may cause players to not play the game.

I like your optimism many of the things that have been reported (issues) still have not been fixed in the 3 builds I've been here, it's slowly getting there but in my opinion the game is not ready for release this year.
Also the devs should post on here it's supriseing how much more they get out of the community by showing their presence once a week on the forums.

I do think that the game is ready for release dependent on the next build. But we will all have to wait and see. |
