It's posts like these (what I referred as "table manners" in Quickgloves thread) that will help turn around your guys image if that's what you all want. So +1 for the attitude and the post.
Break the game ppl. Try something different and break that to. Then report and discuss not cry and stomp your feet. Separate emotion from posting, there have been way too many ***** fits already and that eats up dev/GM time trying to separate the crap from the feedback.
Remember when Brink looked like the end all be all, it was supposed to be the next Team Fortress 2.. Ugh I had such high hopes for that game. Then it came out and I was like.. WTF
All due to poor testing and no beta.
Well as one of the 2 PR guys for STB, I will be handling the Community Issues and what I see as issues or soon to be issues. Others will be working on guides, videos and other ways to help the Dust community.
We may be killers in the game, but we are here for the community and you the players as well.
Oh I remember...really don't want to jack your thread with Brink talk but it is a great example of player community on a micro scale...I was there for the start of the chat rooms matchmaking fix, and still ran a hell of a lot of pubs to spread the chat room gospel. Very active on the forum and tried to help pull off the only tournament attempt. I watched the ebb and flow of the player base as a great game (deep down) got terrible reviews, new players that bought it used, then bought it discounted and many coming back for DLC then clans. My clan and another were #1 and #2 (or #2 and #1 depending who you ask) and when the whole system died abruptly my guys and I tried to initiate a player run clan system. We already had the support structure in place as we had previously tried in the summer when we had no clan system.
As much as the devs let us down in Brink just as much blame falls on the players, with no servers clan matches could have continued indefinitely, too many players just wanted everything to be handed to them instead of taking ownership of our game and doing it ourselves.
Brink was a very special game to me as I hope Dust to be...so many good people, and the core group of vets were one hell of a community for a game with a small player base. While I've philosophically refused to recruit in a beta forum I'll be bringing some of that group into Dust with that "it's all about the objective, everyone can fill a role and you'll lay down your life for a brother/sister if it means the win" attitude that Brink was about.
One of the major things that attracted me to CCP's world is the responsibility on the players to provide the content. I'll look forward to seeing how STB contributes to that belief and the community as a whole.
Btw we still run Brink nights here and there if you have the game kicking around and ever get the urge.
