Something heavily armored, but completely unarmed. Something of a breakthrough vehicle. I don't mean something like the LAVs that we have now, more like a land version of the dropship, but, well, what I said before.

Agree completely. The word you are looking for is APC, an armored personnel carrier, and I am surprised they haven't been implemented yet, especially since the precursor gave us those massive open maps. |

You're talking about an APC ( Armored Personnel Carrier), and, really...meh.
It would ok to have.
It would be ok to not have. |

I would drive one if there was one. I haven't looked at all of the vehicles yet but I wanted to look them over for an armored light vehicle for taking people to installations/etc. |

Well, APCs are typically armed, at least in some way, which is why I didn't call it that. I just feel like a relatively cheap, very sturdy vehicle that can be fitted with various modules to support infantry, withstand sustained fire, or spawn infantry has numerous uses, one of which is breaking past a spawn trap. |

I would love to have APC's. All the passengers should get a video feed of what is outside the front of the tank, while there's a single gunner, with a small turret. |

I dunno, I just feel like arming it would take away the role of LAVs, and if it were armed, then you wouldn't really be able to armor it enough to serve as a breakthrough. |

Cool idea. I wonder who would drive them though unless they could spawn right in them to give the driver points. On the same thought, I wonder who will be flying dropships once gunships come out. |

Unarmed, heavily shielded and armored with a CRU and cloaking modules to facilitate its one purpose of troop deployment. I'd like it. |

Also, with the maps getting bigger, I can see the need to move troops around quickly without too much fear of swarms. |

Allow weapon systems to be swapped for extra passengers. HAV could hold 6 max Dropship 8 ( + pilot ) and LAV's 4. Sounds good IMHO. |

Even HAVs don't have quite the sturdiness I'm thinking of. I figure we need a dedicated transport, slower and less maneuverable than a dropship, but tougher. |

Apparently everyone thinks that is a tanks job, to just move troops around. You know wanting to make the driver not be in control of the gun and all. So we have APC's already, just got to put the armor back on them. |

Slower and less maneuverable wouldn't be good.
Remove weapon systems, it should get cloaking. It should be a sort of hovercraft. It can easily maneuver around bumpy terrain, but at the same time, it doesn't have the power to fly. It could be less expensive than dropships, because of it, and at the same time carry troops around the battlefield.
(But if transports are added, squad leaders in a transport, even if the driver isn't in their squad, should be able to view squad rallies for any squad members in the vehicle.) |

Tanks don't have the troop capacity to be effective in that role though. |

The whole point of the idea though is a heavily armored vehicle to move infantry around. If it was maneuverable or fast, let alone invisible, it would be a bit too hard to kill. |

It would be more of a mobile CRU, around the same HP as a Dropship with one small turret would do it. |

This has some potential. Perhaps make it unarmed, but give it passive boosters for the team in within a certain vicinity. Kind of like an Orca (I think that's the ship) |

I'd suggest 1-2 small blasters(mounted on the side like a dropship) as a armament since they are practically useless but will provide a way to fire at infantry that are too close(make it so you can't put a better blaster or a diff turret on it). 7 "seats" 6 passengers 1 driver. durability like pre-hotfix tanks (or 1/2 a CRU's HP) and a built in CRU. just my thoughts on an APC...... |

Not sure if an APC would be all the useful since someone would need to spend the isk.. deploy it... and then do god knows what with it.
Maps should start with a few LAVs already deployed so a group of 3 can get in and go.. Perhaps when we get an MCC commander they can deploy a parking garage with lavs. |

Hmm, in Tribes 2 we had a vehicle called the Jericho MPB (Mobile Point Base) that allows players to change armor types when the vehicle was stopped and deployed.
Maybe something like that, where the driver can stop hit a control to deploy the vehicle system, making it a mobile CRU and/or Supply Point (heck, you could even animate a nanohive like bubble around the entire vehicle when activated) Give it a small turret like a blaster or something for defense.
If you go with the APC idea, then either a small turret on each side, or one turret on the top, mounted with whatever small gun system chosen, moderately fast, lightly armored, maybe give it a mobile Supply Point ability as well. It wont really stand up to a tank, but thatGÇÖs why you hopefully have infantry aboard whoGÇÖll hop out with swarms and forge guns.

There is a class of vehicle in real life called a heavy apc, a tank with turret removed to allow carrying troops. A large turret module for hav that instead of adding a gun added transport slots. Advantage of not needing new vehicle model, just a cover for where turret would sit with spot for the turret mounted gun to go.
A mav(medium assault vehicle) would also be nice, maybe 50mj turret for light tank and a transport module, stats/slots/skill req 1/2 way between hav and lav would be good place to start. |
