There are numerous people who assume this coming reset is the last one PERIOD, and some people (myself included) know that there is one more reset for the beta and a final reset for launch. Can you please confirm this so to stop the heat in some of these threads? |

Have you been following the IRC Q&A at all? I think you will find that I am in fact correct, one more beta reset followed by a reset for launch. They have stated MANY times that everyone will be starting the launch build with a clean slate, now if this was to be the last reset then that means it WON'T be a clean slate as beta testers will have one over the people who never played the beta in regards to isk and sp. But we shall wait for a devs input into this thread. |

They are not gonna let us keep stuff over to the the next build or the main game, of course we'll be reset again.

Quote:...This should be the last reset of the beta, followed by the last one for when we launch. I'm getting confused about this too. CCP seems to be pretty clear that there will be another re-set when the game is officially launched. It looks like our Aurum and special items purchased through the PSN will be restored at their default states at game launch, but that we will not be able to keep anything earned through gameplay or skills when the game officially launches.
However, people in-ame and on these forums keep saying that this re-set at the end of September is the last one.
So which is it? |

Last reset of the beta. Still a reset at launch. And I'm thinking the beta referred to is the closed beta, so a wipe at start of open beta is still likely. Still means almost three months with no wipe is coming, should be lots of high end stuff by end of that. |

I understand the confusion, but it should become clear if researched. Also, what makes more sense. I would think at the official start, we would all be on the same level. I am as anxious as anyone to start playing for keeps, but understand that a reset at launch is going to happen. |

The real question is
Which launch? Official Launch or Open beta.
Many mmorpg games don't have a reset after open beta. |

I am going by IRC info that pretty much eliminates doubt. The whole "followed by one more" part. |

So here are my two cents and mostly common sense. For starters, you all must keep in mind that the game will eventually be running on Tranquility. That's the single-shard EVE production server where the hundreds of thousands of EVE players hang out, fight, engage each other and exchange ISK for goods. There are no resets on Tranquility. Not for EVE and not for Dust. Once we're on Tranquility we will not be resettable without unbalancing the EVE economy. Once we're there we will be part of the market, part of the corps and part of everyday life.
So the question now becomes, when will we be there? According to CCP we will be moving to Tranquility in the upcoming build. According to different CCP comments that'll be towards the end of the current month.
What does this mean to us? It means:
- Next reset will be the move to Tranquility.
- After the next reset there can't be any more resets due to us being part of the "real world".
- My guess (this has not been stated anywhere) is that the upcoming build will be the start of the open beta phase and death of the NDA.
- As with many things CCP do, open beta can be considered "release". CCP usually do silent releases and not big bangs.
Take this as you want. These were just my little tidbits of common sense. |

Definitely one more reset before the game goes live. I don't know the technical aspects of it, all I know is they want everyone to start on even ground. CCP please confirm or deny so we can put this behind us. |

I'm too lazy to actually look up the IRC log. There may be "translation" issues with the transcription. I may also be wrong. In any case, yes. I agree that we will have a reset for the next build. We will also have a reset for "release". But who's to say those two aren't the same reset? |

And who's to say they are?
Also, you're making a hard assumption that DUST characters can't be reset independent of EVE characters.
Pertinent to you argument about a reset affecting the economy, CCP has stated that at release the economies will be completely uncoupled until they get a better feel for what's going on and to prevent total domination of the DUST market by EVE entities. |

Brandon Laurino, Executive Producer at CCP wrote:With our Private Trials GÇô weGÇÖre not calling it a Beta, but Private Trials in both the real world and the EVE fiction GÇô weGÇÖre not taking the usual GÇ£on / offGÇ¥ method of rolling out a build and then taking it back and tweaking it, then rolling it out again; when we roll out with those first few users we are introducing mercenary technology to EVE, our GÇ£game as a service beginsGÇ¥, and the story will continue from there as that technology develops, further empowering the DUST 514 mercenaries from test subjects in war games to ultimately allowing them to take hold of their own future. ItGÇÖs what we call a thematic rollout. This ^ is why some of us are confused I think. CCP has said both essentially. So... which is it? |
