Be nice to have a riot shield while in battle......or something like it for this game...This way if there are no tanks around team mates can get behind on of these guys and be better off. Thanks guys! |

I just wanted to say Blacklight have them, so Ghost Recon and so Halo 4. Shields work in sci-fi FPS: are fun ad add a layer of new tactical possibilities. |

Just no. For argument sake if the did exist they would need to be destructible and not immune to any type of weapons fire. Expound on how you think they would work in terms of fitting etc. |

I edited my post. Tell me your ideas on how they would work. As long as they are not invunerable I might be open to the idea. |

If you played COD Modern Warfare 2 they were used to be a weapon and stop most gun fire to a point before they would break or glass be so cracked it was not useable. Explosives would be blocked unless it was really close to the person. it would be nice for crowd control. |

I'd say they use the main weapon slot. Only a sidearm for shield carriers. |

Oh blob... someone using "realism" as an excuse to deny a great idea. We aren't using regular projectile weapons, for the most part, and it doesn't have to be an actual riot shield, just something analogous to one.
I Propose a PLASMA SHIELD: A handheld device that releases plasma, and uses a strong electromagnetic field to mold the plasma into the form of a shield. Plasma is known to react to electromagnetic fields. It would destroy many regular projectiles coming through, and would have some sort ionizing particle shield to counter the charged particles of incoming plasma rounds. It would NOT be a perfect shield; would only stop like 60% of incoming damage, and would have limited HP (meaning it will eventually be destroyed).
+1 to the OP |

I was thinking of something similar. Rather than a physcal shield why not have a module that could " expand on the suit natural shield crrating a temporary shield made from expanding your own" it would work like a riot shield that stays up for 4 or 5 second beforing going down. |

It would be nice to have it as a main weapon.. then have a pistol that can fire over the shield or just have the shield be a bashing tool.... if its apart of the suit you really dont have these options.. So I say again!!! Bring in the shield! |

Not sure if the OP meant this exactly but-- a 'physical' shield in a weapon slot could be implemented so that it is one or the other: you wouldn't be able to fire AND use the shield at same time, which might be a good balance.
So: a) If you use your weapon [primary or secondary] it's the same as usual.
b) If you switch to your shield, you cannot fire but you can act as a moving barrier for the teammate behind you-- OR be able to strafe carefully across an open space with greater protection from snipers etc. making sure the front side of the physical shield is facing the incoming damage.
Could make it so that physical shield does nothing against splash damage/AOE, and has it's own armor bar or something that gets used up first before the damage gets through and begins chipping away at your personal suit shield. - Alternatively, maybe a physical shield could have charges, like real life REACTIVE ARMOR. So each time it is hit, a focused explosion of energy fires to counteract the incoming damage and uses up one charge. eg. 12 charges/hits and it is used up, then needs to be "re-loaded" or is used up/consumed.
Just some ideas. |

that be awesome ccp make a module with charges that neutralizes rounds each charge could stop a certain amount of damage and time, it could stop one sniper shot or soak up 9 or 10 AR rounds per charge maybe have it could some kinda expanding bubble shield thingy or just a gasses cloud that absorbs energy. |

If the shield has to brake then wouldnt all other primary weapons have to break as well? I mean Im going to buy this shield and its gonna brake while the other guys geck doesnt break till he dies. If the shield is not unbreakable then in my opinion its a waste of skill points. No primary weapons in this game breaks so why would the shield have to break. I think you need to put the effort and flank the shield user or risk getting bashed to death by his shield. |

Not riot shields but amor shields or i dont know how i would say this but shield shields ha ;). The armor shield would be in the form of a heavy peice of armor to block out damage and the shield shield would be like the shield around tanks but in riot form if that makes any since? |
