Ok so I will probably get shot down but anyway
just played skirmish and I have a few points,
1. If its possible spawns need to be away from direct enemy contact 2. WTF with the radar, the only thing a basic player with no awesome gun/armour can do is hit and run avoid contact in the open or when alone but of course you appear on the map so all my awesome character with prototype gun and suit have to do is sprint over (with mate) and slaughter you while you are trying to work out whats happening. I suggest a shooting/running detection only. 3.the maps are big enough and its meant to be a team game so give us a spawn safe form enemy where whole squad can start and move together, drop links can be used further into field.

1. Agree completely. 2. You only appear on the radar, if one of the enemy team has line of sight (at least that's how I think it works) 3. Again, agree.
Your thread title is strange, though... |

line of sight and scan range. skills can increase the scan resolution so if they are close to you you will show up |

Max out Dropsute Command. This is not meant to be snide but is real advice, I hate getting spawn fragged and Dropsuit Command makes you appear on the rader less, it's your friend train it :D |

yeah the pay to win was mainly as going up against prototype weapons in a skirmish is a waste of time might as well just suicide, the only way i found to combat high lvl gear is to avoid and only engage when you have advantage but with the random spawn you next to guy on in sniper line of fire removes all possibility to compete so you have to buy better gear to stand a chance and before you say lvl up and buy with isk that will work at the mo but in full game top isk stuff will be bested by money bags and his cash bought stuff.
just a concern of mine as it would kill the game, take BF3 I can pick up any gun (basic no attachments) and be competitive and in dust I feel the same should be, Ok a scout wont take on a heavy close range he can at long range thus has a competitive edge. in dust the it plays out better stuff wins and there is little chance for competition, just try out a basic loadout next match and see if you are competitive.
just my thoughts, still love the game! |

1. There's plenty of Proto gear you can get without paying. I should also point out that, right now, the best weapons in the game can't be purchased with Aurum or ISK--you salvage them.
2. The gear you get with Aurum really only works in two ways. One is that you're able to use higher level weapons at a lower skill level, and two, they use slightly less CPU/PG, something CCP is looking at right now.
3. People will be selling Aurum items for ISK after the game launches, so you can get the paying items (which don't provide any significant combat benefit anyway) without ever paying any money.
4. If you feel you have no chance against players with better gear, then group up with those around you. Or you can always grab a sniper rifle and go that route. |

fair point, but the gap in top and bottom or even bottom and middle is too drastic to encourage people to keep at it. |

the spawn system needs tweaking, there's no doubt about that. Last round i played i, and a few teammates, spawned right behind an enemy who had just spawned there himself. That shouldn't be allowed to happen imo.
Other than that, i don't have the feeling that i'm in that much of a disadvantage with my starter kits. I've done rounds where i got 8/1 kdr's, even rounds where i do get slaughtered i still manage to get it close to 1 and even then it's not because i think i'm outgunned because of gear but because i just suck at aiming with a controller. |

I don't use a single module above basic. I run a type 1 suit with the plain assault rifle and basic armor plate. Everything else i use is militia. I am usually in the top 3 on my team. It really is about those support skills like mechanic and shield management. Train smart skills that give bonuses then go for the better gear. And engage selectively. |

Not only that one of the enemies have you in their line of sight, but sensor boosters/dampeners will effect how close they have to be to see you. Same with vehicles, and I think this is where the Black Ops tanks will differ, most AV people have to get uncomfortably close to it, or have one of their team mates do so, to get a weapons lock. |
