It is a Blessing and a Curse to be a Logi.
The Logistics character is skill intensive and any team that has one is fortunate. We keep the team alive: we rep, rez, resupply, and backup infantry, installations, and vehicles - though our teams may not always use us to do that. The lack of comms and teamwork inherent in random battles can be frustrating when your walking around in the armor of a scout suit and the speed of a heavy (best of both worlds, yay).
Not complaining, just saying that we are better at supporting the slayers than fighting them.
A skilled Logi is a great asset to any team. But what about when your team is not there? When your clan, corp, alliance is not holding a major battle or are just not online. There are teams out there who want a skilled Logi, and may be willing to pay for it (future build). or, maybe you just want to keep playing your class and reap the rewards of contracts that other teams are participating in.
We are creating an option. Logistics Brokering(I'm sure pilots, and others will soon make their own groups)
LogiMercs are a rare breed. When EVE and the New Eden economy finally get put with Dust514 your mercenary skills are going to be needed, and you have a price, Embrace IT.
I have created a channel for all logi's to join and for those seeking logi's to post their desired number of logi's for the team. In this limited beta build teams are random, but for the future they may want one in every squad, who knows? Each team will figure out what they want.
I am not familiar with all the social media or corporate workings in EVE, but my corp, and Alliance are. I am working with them to create open Logistics Brokering (LogiBros) to clans, corps, and maybe even Inter-Alliance. This is for Logi's to come together.
Perhaps you can do it better, make it bigger and better,... then help me. While this will be great it will also be a large undertaking.
IFF you want to help, or If you are a Logi, Then post your desire to be a part of this and we'll get in contact.
Logistics Brokering 23 - the open chat channel that will be used to request Logi's (till we get bigger) LogiBro 23 - private channel for Logi's to group up, etc. Pass: forever514

Telemachus AREMNi wrote:I like the idea, it reminds me of the hauling corp's in EVE, plus I'm sure it'll be nice for Corps to have dedicated Logi teams they can hire. That being said, what are the requirements to join? and the way you wrote it makes it seem like as if you could be in your own corp while still be a LogiBro?
Working on the details, I'll have them in a day or two. Thanks for the interest, it seems to be well received |

Cross Atu wrote:I'm pretty new to Dust (IGN "support" never fixed the issues with my code so I had to way for CCP to let all EVE players in before I started playing) but Logi is one of the two roles I've been liking.
Having said that (and having played EVE) I am confident that there are all sorts of important things about running as a Logi that I'm clueless about at present. Any feedback for those of us who are new (to the game or to Logi) and have the will but do not yet know the way?
Cheers, Cross
ps ~ like the idea of the OP :)
LogiBro forever!
Battle Support is critical. One of the best things a Logi/Med can do is level up your nanite injectors to fully rez your team mates and get your NanoHives to rep armour... but only if your in a team with comms - don't use it for randoms.
On top of that the proto has 4 high and 4 low. You are the only suit that could max out damage with modules and put biotics on the lows to sprint like the devil. Or shield up or armor up and become the walking tank repper... so many possibilities.
But, very skill heavy and module centric
Standard play is usually to max Weaponry skill first: you must support your team, defend and take out enemies to create a safe area to rez a teammate.
BUY AND USE the non-milita version often, the one with three equipment slots. YOUR first loadout equipment should be a NANITE injector, Drop Uplink, nanite supply. Then second build replaces the droplink with the repair tool. Spawn with the first, play till death. If ever the drop uplink goes down you spawn with the first again. Make militia versions with the nanite injectors and 1Droplink, 2Supply, 3Repper. 3 limited militia builds but wont cost you any money.
Your Logi has ONE weapon slot - make it count. Consider maxing a weapon, I usually run a tactical assault rifle for picking off stragglers and snipers or a mass driver, still glitchy and complicated.
Get you Dropsuit skill up - To the Advanced level and proto eventually if you run with a team (can be done later) for all those module and equipment slots
Get your nano's and electronics up for rezzing and resupply
Mechanics for hp and armor
The Repairing and Remote repping could be done later
Shields are important, make you live longer
that is just a few basics. more to come |

OK HERE IS THE MORE TO COME
Looking at the system in which EVE functions a person can only work for ONE corp. at a time and a corp can belong to one alliance at a time.
The Problems (for every idea like this) As far as I can tell there are no sub-corp options. To that end a mercenary would have to change corporations every time they wanted to work for another corporation or be contracted by another corporation. While this is possible your work history would show the player jumping from place to place with no loyalty. Also there are time limits in eve, on must wait 24hrs before switching to another corp.
The Alliances matter. Even if there was some way to have a sub corporation you could never merc the alliance that your corporation is connected to. It is a safety mechanism to slow traitors, espionage, or a player throwing the match... or fixing it. And again, your work history would reflect it.
True Mercenary work would be difficult to pull off, Unless there was an Alliance of logi's... and that doesn't work because without the other skills and connections of the other classes the alliance/corp would grow stagnant and couldn't be competitive.
The solution if CCP got involved. Create sub-corporations for mercenaries that were ALLIANCE NEUTRAL, allowing one to join and attack with any campaign. Allow dual corporation membership. Of course some might suggest using an alt character for these kinds of things... but the way we work, that doesn't make so much sense. Also, this is just the beta. Perhaps the full launch will open up many more possibilities.
My Current Solution. With the original idea kinda shot down I have another offering. Use the chat channels. If you would like to join up I am making a Logi-centric branch in my current CLAN and Corp. Lets talk. Maybe you would like to interview and join, and maybe not. If not, that's fine - go with your clan or corporation and move on. But maybe you want a group that will talk about custom builds and an Alliance that will help fund mass equipment purchases for a well built team with organized logi's... and the pay? Well, you get what you earn Merc.
This idea was killed in it's infancy. |

No, I hadn't thought of that. I'll bring it to my leader this Saturday, but I have a feeling that it wont be received. Thanks for throwing out some new ideas though :] |

Until you can get SP for repping shields and make it so your LAV is not destroyed in one swarm hit I would stay away from it this build. Maybe next. |
