Not the same though. You don't have to worry about losing the ship you are flying to someone hopping in and going for a joyride. They don't have a protection because there's no practical need for one. DUST has a practical need to have vehicles lock, at least from your own teamates... I think if an enemy manages to commandeer it, they should get to keep it. But it's silly to have no protection from a griefer on your own team nab a vehicle in an opportune moment. What, nobody in EVE has heard of car keys? :p
Seriously, I don't think it hurts "lore" to have some sort of a vehicle lock (at least temporary) while still having some ways to lose your ship, and it's desperately needed in DUST. |

It's harsh, but it isn't backward. Even Eve has space stations and certain basic protections to keep the game playable. The game will be hurt, as an FPS, by having no vehicle locks or some way to protect your investment. It is by no means breaking with Eve's legendary harshness to have a damn key for your car. Sci-fi tech, and you can't slap a user lock on a huge investment? |

Actually, it hasn't happened to me, thankfully. Doesn't take long to find out why it won't work though.
My tablet can see when it's me and unlock now... my million dollar investment years in the future can't manage that? |
