Personally, I'm starting to find specifically the militia grade weapons to be a tad too powerful for what it's meant to be. Via description, it claims that all Militia equipment "that is less efficient and bulkier than other models"
I dunno, getting killed by a militia weapon in a military grade armored suit is kinda questioning . And not to mention, why spec into a weapon when the militia and standard weapon has only a small difference in any area.
Militia AR v Standard AR - 48 ammo v 60 ammo, but same damage and overall Militia Swarm v Standard Swarm - 2 clip size v 4 clip size, same damage and overall Militia SMG v Standard SMG - 68 clip size v 80 clip Militia Sniper v Standard Sniper - (unconfirmed due to lack of store info) 3 clip size v 5 clip size
I'm not sure I'm completely seeing the "less efficient" part of the description, rather I'm seeing a tiny side change, that doesn't overall make the weapon inferior to a standard grade.
Dunno about you guys, but I think militia grade weaponry isn't weak enough to turn people away and start upgrading their equipments early. What's the community's take on this situation. |

The militia gear has higher cpu/powergrid and lower clipsize (weapons only) than the first tier of weapons.
However, the first tier of weapons ALSO has special versions, which is what the draw of the first tier should be. Burst assault rifles are kickass for example.
The first tier should be about customization more than sheer power. |

Well the higher CPU/PG is already addressed, due to the decription of "bulkier than other variants"
But the lowered clipsize doesn't feel enough of a reason to push someone away from just using Militia grade weapon instead of the first tier guns.
And really, for the standard AR, there is kinda no reason to not just use a militia, as its RPM and DMG is identical, and one of them is unlimited and the other is not. |

Honestly I think its fine. The CPU/PG is a pretty big deal when tour trying to fit good modules and maximize your suits potential. |

But you are not taking into consideration the DPS of the weapon versus the DPMg (Damage Per Magazine [clip]). That is where a normal AR or any weapon will shine. At least at this point in time.
As for the issue of moving people along to other tiers of weapons, it is not the "job" of CCP. It is the choice of the DUST merc. These choices are mediated by a number of different factors; that being everything from cash flow, time in game, skill points and position. If a person can be affective for their corp and their clients in Militia gear, which in the long run allows them to stockpile the necessary gear for, lets say some high end null sec work down the road, all the while cultivating a reputation of producing great results with the most basic of gear, I would say "why NOT!"
I will say that the recent nerfs on the AR and other weapons have definitely made the differences between the weapon classes (standard, advanced, and proto) a little less apparent. Not only that the stat issues in the market make perceiving the differences and the different uses even more unapparent.
But an issue that hasn't been issued or addressed is a the fact that currently we are only dealing with a fraction of the total possible available equipment and weapons on the market, let alone are available for purchase.
This is a game about choices: choices in suit build, weapons, and equipment. So take what you have in front of you, and enjoy the opportunity to explore all the options of play while the game is in the beta stage. Construct criticism to game mechanics and possibly the issue of balancing (granted there is NO balancing in REAL WAR, just those that are able to use what they have to produce the needed results).
After that, sit back and enjoy the surprise of what CCP has on their drawing board and what they are bringing to the table.
