Rather then complain about how tanks are ruining this game. I want to skill up a AV but I am really new to the game so what is the best weapons to skill up at first. I been using forge and some flux for now. But it is just hard to get skill points in a game using that. I can't even put a dent in any of the tanks that are up there. I just do not want to waste my time skilling up forge if swarms are better. |

well, make sure your survivability is there first. from last build and the beginning of this build where we still had our previous skills, i can say its important to have a good smg and av nades. once you get those, its important to mod up, especially since dropsuits are currently about slots and not health increases.
once you get that taken care of, forges hurt shields and swarms hurt armor. |

On both builds I would run assault rifle and skill it up while on the side i would skill up my forge gun. I dont run forge all the time. Only when I get taken out by a tank or dropship then im like Oh its on now. Revenge is sweet. If your running straight av it probably will take you a long time to level up. Focus on red dots first then if need be bust out with av. Thats just my opinion tho. |

They are both effective if used correctly. Ditch the flux nades for AV ones to do quick damage. You'll obviously get weaponry... But my preferred option is Swarmer & AV nades with an SMG and a hive. It's pretty good on an Assault type 2.
Edit: it might be best to ignore lurches advice here... You just can't survive against a tank using mods/skills. Cover is more important. |

Also I greatly utilize supply depots because you can switch fittings there. Its funny when i get chased down and im heavy then pop back out from behind the depot with an assault rifle and mow them down. Lol. |

complex damage mods on a breach forge......they hurt. you need an av squad tho. problem is av guys just throw clones at tanks, die, then come here to complain. dont get impatient. get a squad, set up and ambush, then punch holes in the tank. once he tries to retreat and rep, meet him down the road with another forge/swarm. unfortunately, this is beyond the mental capabilities of many randoms, but like i said, just get a squad. you can even squad up with me sometime and get in my tank so you can watch how i drive and get a feel for how you could counter. |

+1 for this, as a tank driver I just love when people try and get me with forge guns, they're sitting ducks, swarms ducking into and out of cover are a pain in the kitten however.
Never try and solo a tank, even if you get the drop on him he can still kill you easy, group up, 4 guys with swarms can make life very difficult for even well fitted tanks |

Yea sounds good, but now I know that I need to not just AV but get my rifle and worry about av when I get enough SP.

tony, your right about using cover. thing is i was only trying to give the OP fitting advice since that was his main query. whether or not you can use cover is a different thing entirely and changing mods isnt gonna help you hide if you have a proper av fitting. im not trying to give him bum advice here.
next build the "proper" av fitting is going to change as well if ewar is implemented. |

If you're going to skill for AV, my advice would be to focus on the weaponry first, then the survivability of the suit. Let's put it this way:
Skill up heavy to 4 and get into a type-a suit. Skill up mechanics to 5, rep to 3 or 4, shield stuff to 4 or 5, then start skilling for forge guns. Die in one shot from a tank anyway without being able to do much damage in return.
Skill up heavy to 1, forge gun operation to 5, proficiency to 3, sharpshooter 3, weaponry 5 and run advanced or proto forge guns with enhanced or complex damage mods. Die in one shot from a tank, but make them REALLY think before advancing on your position if you can land a few shots on them. |

Sorry, nothing personal. I hope they just sort out suits again. 1300 hp heavies aren't just scary for tanks. They should keep the battle finder limit on suit. No advanced suits or protosuits in specific games. Also limit tank tiers in those games to match. Many problems with the current state of affairs are temporary. |

That's part of the problem.
Four people specifically designed to take you out shouldn't be "makes life difficult"
It should be YOU ARE DEAD. |

this also AV nades hurt armor more imo and well flux nades arent working as intended but when they do u will have basically an EMP nade for shields
what lurch said is crucial tho, get those smg skills as if ur rolling swarms u will need to be able to tackle infantry still
I wish more ppl would be like u tho OP and instead of sitting back and moaning start gettin AV fits so instead of seeing 1-2 ppl running AV u see alot more |

suit nerf is fine instead of limiting ppl to what type of matches they can play
gamers are too lazy these days dont like challenges anymore
segregating the community is BAD BAD BAD. it will be harder to find games etc when u start seperating players why are u so against playing on a better playing field where skill matters more than gear? |

I support this idea.
More balance = more fun. I'm not the type of gamer that doesn't like a challenge, I just don't like being stuck with my low SP against a bunch of enemies who have high SP and a gigantic advantage, while they're most likely grouped to boot. If it was so that the other people I play against are in the same boat as me or at least somewhat close to it, well, that would be a ton of fun. The matches I've experienced where there aren't any marauders rolling around and heavy infantry in low-mid tier gear were the funnest for me so far, even if I didn't have my best matches.. at least it felt more balanced and fun.
Have a group of servers for new characters but give those players the ability to play in the other servers if they want. Let them get a hang of the game before sending them into the fire where everyone has more SP and better equipment. That's what I figure would be nice anyway, and maybe a group of servers for high tier+ where rewards are higher for there being more competition.
Curious to see how high/low sec balance these things out and how well it works. |
