Honestly I never understood the phenomenon. I was in high school when the Red and Blue versions came out for ye old grey brick Gameboy and thought they made for a nice, light JRPG with collecting/team building gameplay elements. I then beat one of them, tracked down the one other kid in school with the game to try out trading, then shrugged and went on with my life.
Over a decade later and people still won't shut up about the franchise. |

I'm a fan of Pokemon still I guess, I played the red/blue/yellow/green the whole fkn rainbow lol, gold and silver.. then never played it again. My nephew likes playing their newer games and shows me alot of the pokemon he is always trading online with other people, I actually thought about getting the game myself and trading with him to help him out. I'm a strong supporter of any game that continues on even if the next versions can never be as good as the first or whatever but what made me stop playing the games was it was pretty much the same thing over and over and over and over, beat these 8 gym leaders go on to some mountain, beat a group of dudes beat the head dude and tada your riding your bike in the wind good game... thrown back at your house, keep grinding and catch em all!
There's no way in hell I could sit through their cartoon series these days, I was flippin through the channels not to long ago and was like what in the fk  |
