I seriously don't understand why people are having such a huge problem with this....
I take out tanks just fine. Advanced assault forge gun, plain old AV grenades, tier 1 heavy suit, submachine gun. I do enough damage to tanks to be able to take them out in the long run of things. Don't jack-assedly run straight at the tank and think you'll be coming out on top. And don't give me the "range is crap!" line either. Suck it up, do your job as AV, unless you haven't specced into it; in that case, don't expect to do much but scratch the paint job. |

If someone wants to go the route to be a full AV player they are pretty much useless if there are no vehicles around which makes it a lot less desirable to spend your SP on while with a tank you can spawn it in in almost any situation and you'll get a ton of points for doing it and instant gratification.
Tanks having a high ISK cost isn't enough to justify how powerful they are because any semi-competent person will be able to roll around in a tank and manage to not get it destroyed enough to make a pretty profit off of it.
Right now there is no negatives for going the HAV route which is a problem whether you want to admit it or not.
P.S. every time you bring in CoD to try and justify your position you just sound like a moron.
While I do agree to some degree with what you're saying (I agree wholeheartedly with the CoD part), I will say that I make enough to cover costs of losing my AV build by destroying the tanks that get called in. I'm not sure why people don't take advantage of the supply depot's ability to allow you to change suits. Quick switch into AV, take out the tank or at least send it running, switch back to whatever you were doing before.
Also, the support skills that seem to be getting ignored here to improve your survivability. Things like Shield Ops/Management/etc, Weaponry, Mechanics, etc. All of this has carried me through fights with tanks and i've come out on top. Not that i'm gloating, i've lost my fair share of AV suits, but i'm not about to lose one fight and then hop on the forums to slather "TANKSOPOMG" everywhere. (not saying anyone in particular is, just in general) |
