Keeping this simple: One of a players first games of the day, which has the highest multiplier on Skill Point Rewarded, can end extremely soon if not at the moment a player joins a game due to the game being already in progress. This player has not earned any SP due to not participating, and has now used up the multiplier on that game... of course the worst case scenario is this is the first game of the day.
Feedback: Would love to this not take place come release, whether it's changes to the battle que system, an option to turn off joining games in progress, or changes in the Skill Point acclimation system.

The diminishing returns isn't supposed to be based on number of battles, but rather SP earned, so it shouldn't be working that way. |

Is that new to this build? Every build previous to this one had a SP system based on battles played. I have not seen noticed a difference on this one. Please confirm. |

+1, just had my first 7 matches drop me into "already in progress" today. I've now burned through my SP multiplier and spent more time on the que screen than in an actual game
On a related note SP awards should function "in real time" just like fit and suit losses so that when you're lagged out of a match in progress you still gain something for your efforts, I've had very good high WP total games award me nothing because I was lagged out of the sever before the end.
I'm not sweating it much since it's beta but this would be a big issue (set of issues?) if the game were live.

I must have missed this back when you replied. It's supposed to have been working like this since at least last build. I asked about it a couple months back or so in IRC, and it was explained that you get X number of SP per Y number of WP regardless of how many battles that takes. So, if you got 100 WP your first game and 1000 WP the second, you should get the same amount of SP as if you got 1000 WP the first and 100 WP the second. (if it was battles-based on the diminishing returns, the latter would get more SP, since diminishing returns would be applied to the 2nd number, rather than on a scale as WP are gained)
I don't know if that's how it IS working, but that's how it SHOULD be working by what CCP has said.
Edit: And to the others, they've said they're working on getting us real-time rewards, so if something happens and we crash out of a battle or something, we'll get the appropriate amount of reward for what we had contributed toward. I think they mentioned ISK with that, I'm not sure if they also said SP or KDR stats, though. |
