I'm at a total loss here and perhaps it's because i'm struggling to figure this out my self.
At first I figured the HMG would be the infantry elite lawn mower but lately I've been getting destroyed by militia gear. Not to mention should a person be past 25 meters away I have NO chance what so ever. If they are point blank i'll generally win but with like 1/10 of hp left.
Then I tired different types of weapons and the mass driver was ok but it seems like assault rifles are dominate. What do you all think?
What are survival skills to help me out? just looking for suggestions. |

Never run in the open with a Heavy Suit. That is a big no no. Also close quarters is your favorite playground unless you run into that shotgun bully. When I use Logistic Suits, I usually hide behind my team and "help" kill the enemy team. But of course, I rather have my teammate die and steal kill so I can revive |

I think the main reason for that is because we are a huge target so most of their bullets will never miss. But I'm thinking about using a LAV to travel around and just jump out and start mowing down people lol. |

You type how I generally travel it's just I feel that I should be able to take 2 assault units with my HMG and i can generally struggle vs 1 and i'm so wounded the 2nd round i'm done for.
Prehaps I'm just being sensitive on the matter and I should not think of them as tanks with legs. |

Well, if you prefer to keep it heavy you could try to get the Heavy Type-II Drop-suit since it has greater focus on shields, faster moving speed and sprinting speed. Shields are generally better for survival as they are not as hard to regenerate as armor is. Logistics are often too busy getting ran over by tanks to care about repairing heavies.
HMG seems to be suitable for Close range fire mostly, so the heavy weapon sharpshooter can probably help a bit with the range problem. Assault rifles generally dominate on the medium semi-long distances so instead of running to your death you could try luring them to you with the terrain.
Generally good skills for survival are Shield operation (% regen speed), shield management (% shields), Mechanics (% armor), Repair systems (% repair rate). - Weaponry and HMG operation are pretty important as well due to being able to kill stuff faster. - Mechanics is especially good for heavy due to the large hp/armor pool.
Personally I play Assault with tactical assault rifle and try to keep my distance to the enemies, using shield modules and armor repair module and CPU upgrade. I rarely die more than 4 times in a match, most matches I play I tend to have 1-3 deaths.
Common reasons being-> spawn in front of a tank or shotgun scout, get gang raped or carelessly sniped. |

If you're that new, you could go and buy most of the militia weapons, modules etc from the market and experiment a bit. They are infinite and some of them are rather cost effective like repair and shield modules. You only need to buy one of each.
There are few good starter "builds" tough. "Shotgun fairy" which means scout with a boom-stick, and it's pretty deadly even with low end shotguns. Sniper scout with and SMG is also pretty versatile for new players having SMG for CQC and sniper rifle for longer ranges. You could even try similar fits but replace them with heavy suit if you so prefer.
Pretty important thing that some people fail to realize is that you reveal your position when you fire your gun, use it on your advantage instead of telling the enemy where you are. Don't bother fighting tanks, it's a waste of time, money and lives, avoid them for best results or.. become one of them. |

Just because someone is packin a militia assault rifle it don't mean they can't take down someone with better gear, I use militia assault/sniper rifles but I also have the skillbooks that give +5% damage etc per level (currently lvl 4), a militia rifle with the right weapon skills is as deadly as a standard/advanced rifle with no skills. |

I think that assualt rifles are popular just becuse they are the universal weapon and fairly easy to use with the ps controller i can definitely see where if i play any more as a sniper i really need a mouse for those percise long shots. I tried heavy and id did not fit my playstyle i find assualt atcually is more my style. so u might wanna play around with some other classes and tryt and find ur nich in command suit and then start building. but that si just what works for me. |

A heavy is not a lone wolf suit to go out in the open with without supporting troops.. By support I dont mean a bunch of random troops running around in circles.. It takes coordination with assualts gaurding his flanks and a couple logis close behind..
A heavy is not an all purpose, lone wolf role.. It's for guarding choke points and to be the first one into a room that's locked down by defending troops as a shock trooper followed by assaults storming in with the logis close behind.. throw in a non sniper shotgun/smg scout into mix and watch your heavy shine..
Crossing large open areas with a lone heavy is idiotic, they might kille 2-3 randoms before an experienced coordinated squad flanks their sides and backs and focus fire the lone wolf heavy while avoiding his frontal and waiting for him to reload before completing the final mauling... it's basically like a lone gorilla trying to fight a pack of jackals in that scenario.. |

The mass driver is also a support weapon.. Popular with logis. Best used currently for killing scouts and suppression.. Does not work well for lone wolfing. And it may still be bugged where not all the nades go off. |
