Reb El wrote:All good observations, and no intent to sound pompous LOL! I guess my final point was to indicate how WELL one could run and gun w the MOVE rifle IF they allowed a zero dead zone floating reticule.
And to those who say the move is crap try playing some shooters that DO track with no dead zone like the House of the Dead games or The Shoot. On those games I get a very acurate reticule, but they don't allow player movement. If they allowed guys w the full $200 setup to play the MAG/DUST style games w that accurate aiming, Im betting even a noob could shoot straight. That maybe it might step on the toes of the invested couch potato thumbster, cause a few too many forum ***** sessions. you know exactly what the titles would be; MOVE SYSTEM UNFAIR ADVANTAGE
Now personally I have always wanted a more virtual gaming experience. I have had a full racing chair cockpit setup for GRan Turismo for years. I play all the instruments of Rockband 1 2&3, including PRO instruments, etc. If you think the shooters are fun with a controller you would have a blast w a full Sony wireless headset, 3D glasses and standing on a rumble floor with the rifle up and firing the whole match! You finish up sweating, shaking and yelling your head off, laughing!
Anyway I really do enjoy the MOVE system more than the comtroller. I really do think they are shorting what could be done with the technology. I realy do think the control setup for the MOVE is a pluggable module with default settings for shooter engines because the button maping here is the exact same as for Resistance 3, the assault rifle showcase game. Am I better with a controller? Right now, sure. Not that I am very good anyway, since I am 45 and only game a few hours a week (real life intrudes LOL)
And thats why the MOVE is more fun. MOST of us are not very good at shooters, one has to dedicate WAY too many hours of your life to do so. I would rather slug it out with the MOVE rifle, just for the fun and immersion into the virtual world for a while.
This! Have exactly the same attitude and we are same age, funny that!! lol!
I am better at fps with my sharpshooter than DS3 and currently use it as much as possible in this build as it is just about playable but still very disappointing after waiting so long. I even have it set up with a camera tripod to save my arms! lol
Anyway, lots of work needed before full game and I am hoping for much more customization available for button mapping (X button for jumping + sharpshooter = disaster) and more specific sharpshooter support so that the pump action is reload and not another fire button for some reason!
I would also hope to have turn speed increased but to also have turn speed adjustable by players to suit playstyle and capabilities. Oh and dont get me started on the zoom, we all know whats wrong with that, my only consolation with that is that it is so broken that there is no way they wont fix it for full release or just get laughed out of town
We know all these things are possible because other games have done it well and I just have everything crossed that CCP catch up. If they do, I will have my perfect game

yeah, it's a real issue that I have never seen a single dev response to any of the Move posts I've found from searches. The move adds so much to this game IMHO and I'm pretty sure it'll be improved for full release but how much? What are the devs actually aiming for? It would be nice to have some dev thoughts on that
And yes Rob, I do worry that inclusion but poor execution in shooters is giving Move a bad rap. When done well (take a bow KZ3) it adds a whole new level of immersion and for me it improves my game over DS3. When poorly executed people are going to judge it unfairly based on bad coding! Please CCP dont fall into this trap and give us some clues to what you are planning.
Also wouldn't mind seeing some sort of option to disable the Move in game to switch to DS3 for vehicle control, what do you think? Is it even possible? |

Oh and another thought, in the game that begins with a K and ends with a 3, the execution was excellent with adjustable turnspeed etc etc I have never ever heard anyone complain that those using move was over powered against DS3, I just dont think this would be a major issue here in dust either. Let us have speeds that match DS3 at least |

Well it's tricky getting kills when you cant turn fast enough to find the person shooting you!! Also, starting to get really annoyed when spawning as no matter what I do with the sharpshooter, I always spawn staring at the floor! Then the slow turn speed means it takes forever to look up and get bearings then........ooops dead! |

actually I must adjust my initial impressions of turn speed as I've now got to grips with some of the settings and found that turn speed can be made much quicker, so pretty pleased with that right now, just need to get rid of deadzone.
Another issue I have quite regularly is losing my reticle when there is a lot of action on screen, especially when using HMG which does not have much of an animation to follow Move movement so it is often pointing at a different part of the screen to which I'm actually aiming (something that needs fixing in its own right!).
It would be very helpful to be able to customise the reticule for colour and brightness so that it doesn't get lost on screen during volotile moments as it does now because it is a dull white |
