Some ninja presses O first, then promptly gets vehicle destroyed. -2 million isk...
Seriously, sometimes vehicles get dropped far enough away that it can take a couple of seconds to get there. Especially if you are near a structure of some sort. If someone get's there first, you should be able to switch over to the pilot if you get in the vehicle at least. |

they def need a way to ensure that some random who has never been in a tank cant take it...its not bf after all where the tank will respawn in X seconds after getting blown up...it cost someone time and lots of isk to fit that tank.
should have a way to make so people who dont have the proper skills cannot get in the driver seat. |

There should just be a timer.
If you don't get into the vehicle you purchased within 30 seconds it's up for grabs for anyone on the whole team, though obviously any enemy can still hack it during this time. Also, if you die before getting into it the timer should immediately end so that anyone on your team can at least take it to safety. And hopefully they'll be nice enough to give it back to you when you respawn. |

It has been discussed a lot, and I'm a little surprised CCP haven't gotten around to it yet.
Vehicle theft is a major issue,. especially now that they cost as much as they do. Sadly too many think that they are playing lesser games, where vehicle drops are just free drops for anyone to grab.
The obvious solution would be to limit the pilot seat to anyone who actually have the skills. Another thing that sucks is if you are a squad with the skills to use the turrets, and some beginner jumps in to the turret seat, you get a very poor performance.
The OWNER of the vehicle must be able to remove an usurper from the pilot seat at any time. Even remotely. And the owner must be able to control who uses his gunner seats.
Edit: An added bonus could be that if you HACK an enemy vehicle you don't have the skills for, you should be able to "flag" it as team salvage... |

I think Starhawk did this very well with NPCs automatically climbing across the vehicle from the driver's seat to the gunner's seat when you try to get in it.
* Always allow the owner of the vehicle to board the vehicle, ejecting the player in the least important seat if none are available. * Allow the owner of the vehicle to move freely between seats, automatically swapping places with the player in that seat.
This allows owners to commandeer their own vehicles if they wish, without automatically disrupting or dislodging the current driver (incase the vehicle is already under fire/etc).
Hacking a vehicle makes you the new owner of the vehicle, so much so that you're the one who keeps it if it survives to the end of the round. |
