You can't make a judgement about a game that isn't out yet. I don't like Precursor, I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as I was enjoying E3, but I'm not about to say Dust is bad. Saying Dust is bad now, would be like playing Starcraft: Brood War 8 years ago and saying "Man, Starcraft 2 really sucks!".
I am tired of people coming into this beta, that CCP so kindly allowed to be accessed by many, many people, and saying "pft, game sucks, cya!" What do you not realize about the term "beta"? It is absolutely, by no means or stretch-of-the-rules synonymous to "demo". This is not a representation of the final product.
When Dust launches, and is put on TQ, and CCP says "Here you go, we're done!" then cast your judgement. Until then, keep your complaints simple, say "I don't like this aspect of the game" or "I don't like this function or lack there of" but do not, under any circumstances, say "Dust is bad" because you are not playing a finished product.
Edit: I don't remember where it was, but I saw a post by a CCP dev saying "We are prioritizing pushing out all of the features first, and are only fixing bugs that actually make the game unplayable. We aren't fixing small bugs and balance issues as much, because we aren't even playing the whole game yet." (paraphrased)
Now, there is something important that people need to realize, in both their mentality, their complaints, and the reasoning behind them. CCP isn't balancing everything right now, because lets say gun A is extremely OP against gun B, and there isn't much of a counter to it. However, CCP has plans for gun C that will have a major effect on the game, largely on guns A and B, meaning that if they balance guns A and B right now, they'll have to do it all over again when gun C comes out.
What we should be saying right now, is "I like this feature, because it compliments this thing I do and works well for me" or "I do not like this feature, because it is currently providing a strong imbalance for certain users." Then, when this feedback is given, players should wait until -ALL- content is released, and we begin to see balancing changes made.
Edit #2: Just saw another thread complaining about how Dust wont make it. About how the maps are to large. Didn't like how matchmaking felt like other FPS games (queue, play, repeat). Again, -we are not playing the full game-. There are a whole ton of features that are not in the game yet, that will improve upon all of these issues.
And as far as hit detection goes, we will certainly see improvements on this. I highly doubt CCP would release it with this state of hit detection. All that would cause is frustration, QQing, and rage quitting for most new players. |

Tony Calif wrote:The whole point is to complain and rage now. That way when the game is released everyone's happy with it. Hush ya whining Yes, lets complain and rage. Lets make ourselves look like a bunch of immature high school students, high on pubescent hormones and bitching at every little thing that bothers us. Observations and articulated complaints are valuable and necessary, but if you want to "complain and rage" you should take it elsewhere. |

Some people simply cannot play without it on a gamepad. In the E3 build it was akin to an aim bot, but not it's just a minor tug towards your opponent, no big deal at all. |

I've been an EVE member for years, and I think CCP is doing a huge job combining pc and ps3 gamers, in a unusual and interesting way. I can't wait to see how it plays out. I'm looking forward to the final product, just hoping my current issues are ironed out. |

i like dust its come a long way from where it was in june and can (hopefully) only get better. Realize, that you are a minority. You have proof? Links, statistics? Charts? I bet you are basing that opinion simply by the very, very small community here on the forums, and the even smaller albeit loud barking fools whom cannot act civil to save their lives. Personally? Even with the bugs, and issues amid Dust514 I have to say the game not has potential, but is fun and getting better. Nothing is perfect. Disney World is a prime example. Riddled and plagued with issues opening year, and even came close to shutting down due to being a drain of money. Now look at it. Everyone knows Mickey, and his friends, and you'd never have known otherwise. They still have issues, and injuries occuring yearly, but no one speaks of them. Games are the same. Does CCP need to delay Dust514? I believe so, but only due to the fact that it needs be worked on to ensure a solid product at launch that will not need as much patching or fixing, and will only allow CCP to start work on improving the game and adding to the game. Instead of going back to fix known issues. I'd say CCP needs to hold Dust514 back till mid first quarter of 2013. Risky, and bold granted. However it could prove invaluable in assuring the players a solid quality title. People over exaggerate. Such as most of the people in this thread. The ones using "fanboy" as a crutch at every turn. They lack modesty, or civility. Only vexing the people and hindering actual progress by screaming like children. Especially an exceptional few. So perhaps "minority" isn't really the proper thing to say, however it was in reference to high school boys that cannot control their testosterone fueled rants. However I'm sure you understand why I'm saying it, so much ranting on here, very little constructive feedback going on.
I'm with you, I want to see Dust delayed, it isn't going to be ready for a full launch in 2012. |

Nah I know you from around the forums, we've been on the same side of more than one argument. No big deal. |

Tony Calif wrote:So, basically your pissed off with criticism of Dust. Gz. Blame it on high school kids lol. Not EvE players saying "my KBM doesn't work, Scouts are too fast, and don't even think about letting Dusters take SOV."
6 of 1 half a dozen of the other. If your too blind to see that, take yourself elsewhere.
Oh and the thread title is misleading. Latency ect are important. This is just you being mad at a bunch of teenage lads. Gz.
(schizo I'm hurt, I only troll you :D ) I'm not blaming it on highschool kids, I'm saying that half the people on these forums act like children. "Lets whine, *****, and moan about every little issue, over, and over, and over, with no supporting points or real information on why we are complaining." Like I said, it's all people going on testosterone fueled rants after losing due to some "imbalance" or "bug".
I understand that there are issues with this game, but those issues are hard to fix when we are only playing a small portion of the game. So instead of saying "Dust is bad" "Dust will fail" "Console players will hate Dust", just say "there is an issue here" and be done with it.
Also, it is important, mentality is very important. |

Small portion of he game!? This is a FPS, this game is all about shooting; what else do you expect to do on the 7k planets we will have? Spend your time mining with you futuristic pickax, collect flowers, swim in lakes, go fishing, car racing, go shopping, chuck wood? This is not a RPG! You really don't grasp the situation: here we test what the game it's about just in a limited size for obvious practical reasons BUT we are not going to get different gameplay or different mechanics outside the FPS on palnetes. The interaction with EVE will be handled with menus, voice chat & forums and that is not gameplay, that is just the social aspect and every FPS has that in a way or another, the difference here is that simply here it's organic/in-game. Gamepaly is the real important thing here not map size, number of palyers ot interaction with EVE: all these thigns comes after the gampaly, which is the foundation of a VG. Make the gampaly wrong and they will not serve no purpose. CS, BF, COD, KZ, Halo are more limited in size then Dust but have the right gameplay and that is why they best it. It will always be better to play in a "small" map FPS and have the right gameplay, then have thousands of maps and have poor gameplay. Substance will always win over size. The game will change over time. Balance and mechanics can be changed as the game progresses, and knowing CCP they will change, frequently. It is important to have the full product in testing before you start making major changes to any of it. If you start making important changes when only 20% of a product is available, then when you get to 50% or 100%, all of a sudden you have whole heap of new problems, and you have to go back and fix everything all over again. |

EriktheHeartless wrote:+1 and agreed. some people dont want to admit either because of pride or because of their very brown noses that although this game has potential its core function(fps) is very bad atm now i hope they fix it but adding a bunch of crap to the game without fixing the real problems first is ridicules. and yes i am b/tching and complaining why you ask? because i paid to get in so i am a customer regardless of "it's a beta" or not this beta better step it up or i believe alot of people will be moving on to more entertaining games with less frustrastion. It's pointless to fix 1 issue if you're just going to add 50 more and have to fix it again. CCP already said they are going to get all the content in, then start fixing issues that are not "game breaking". Less than perfect "FPS mechanics" are not game breaking as far as I can tell, so they will most likely be improved upon later. |
