Really, the only real reasons the HAVs were overpowered in the last build was due to their very low cost and the uselessness of AV grenades. The adjustment to those two factors alone, especially in consideration of the adjustment to match rewards, would have made them exactly what they were supposed to be: a high damage, yet high risk asset. However, the dramatic reduction in their capabilities means that the aforementioned changes combine with that to make them almost useless. It is a little safer to operate these new, squishier HAVs after the Forge Gun nerf, but that really didn't need to happen. The only issue I could really see with the Forge Gun was it's ease of killing infantry, but that was only really possible at close range thanks to the shaking from the charging. If you were reliably killing people at long range with an FG, than my hat's off to you.
Some people had mentioned the fear of it before, and we're seeing it now: this game is starting to suffer from Starhawk Syndrome. Everyone starts crying for nerfs on assets before the other assets the complement are put in the game, and then every new build is unbalanced after incomplete assets are nerfed piecemeal to placate the whiners. Less than just saying some of these assets should be un-nerfed, we need to be approaching this beta with the attitude of not nerfing anything until it's counters are in place, and we can see how they all perform together.
This is, after all, a beta, and getting killed a lot by something doesn't matter. You're going to lose all stats related to your character come launch in any case. Yes, this is about testing and providing feedback, but feedback made on an incomplete picture is incomplete itself. Keep up with the constructive criticism, and keep making suggestions to help better the performance of the sanbox as a whole. Please try and keep the nerf threads to a minimum. |

He didn't think that a dumbfire AV weapon should be able to hit infantry but hey lets not worry about the ramifications of our changes will have. All nerfs and buffs on all equipment need to be carefully weighed and then probably made not as drastic as what proper want just to avoid this problem of over doing it. YES. Everything this man just said. This is the only way to avoid the inevitable introduction of another asset that is suddenly OP because its counterpart that was introduced earlier was nerfed on account of complaints of it being OP. |

Now, I'm not saying that the Breach rifle was completely balanced, but it didn't need to be gimped as much as it was. It was gimped to that extent as a reaction to the forum getting up in arms over it and not really suggesting any viable alternatives to just gimping it. |

Yes, the Forge Gun needs it's range returned. I mean, its a railgun for God's sake, it should be able to easily fire a few kilometers while doing full damage. |
