A Grenade going off near you should affect your vision, hud, aiming, etc. And it should slow you.
I suppose if you were sniping and someone shot you with an assault rifle and it made your scope drop that would be bad as well?
A little realism is a good thing. Bunny Hopping doesn't work in real life while trying to shoot, however Im all for retards doing it in a video game. I laugh as I mow them down. LOLOLOL look at the moron, damn he died.
Keep the realism, skill doesn't always come down to how well you move a controller.
There's always skill in building your character, choosing a proper loadout, training correctly, etc.
Suck it up or move on. |

I like that explosions mess with my aim. I should not be able to stand toe-to-toe with a tank or LAV and take missile hits without losing my swarm lock. This new mechanic forces me to hit and run, which takes some thought and is much more interesting. |

Why have realism in some areas of the game and not in others? Bunny hoping and strrafing doesn't work in real life...people don't move like that, in real life bullets move much faster...why would I have to lead someone 3m from me? surface to air missles ie stingers travel 2.2 times the speed of sound...yet can be outrun by dropships?
Many things in the game are not realistic on "purpose" for the name of gameplay, but then when a feature is added, people say hey it is realistic! But this other feature is just better than realism. |

Ok this tread is pure 100% hallerious
1: first off you can bunny hop five of so times without falling true but kit up with a gun try to aim it be carring 200 odd rounds of ammo and armour now try it, if you can still do this now try jumping like a dust merc when you jump you will probably jump 2 feet max dust mercs can jump ruffly 6/7 feet assuming a dust merc is 6 feet tall,
2: explosions messing around with your aim this is a feature which should be kept in the game it adds a new mechanic to be used in a already deep game, its little features like this that will make it stand out from the halo, cod and battlefield serieses if a game wants to makeits self better and more realist more power to it dont whine because you want to dumb it down to what your used to.
3: How in the name of all thats holy is this taking away from skill seriously you will find if you have a problem with something then overcoming that problem is a true skill not coming on to a forumand bad mouting a new feature because you cant deal with it basicly harden up use you head find his weakness and poke it. it clearly is not over powered at this time if it was over powered then it should be nerfed but it is not.
4: i think all examples of agro against people should be doing this sort of thing with possible inclusion of blurred vision, temperary hearing loss, slowing down movement, or even total knock down, these effects should be based on how big the incomming treat is if it is just gun fire it should slow you down very slightly and mess around with your vision to say give a sence of fear now as the problem gets bigger like gernades or tanks shells it should have a serious effect on movement speed making you stumple or even totaly knocked onto back make vision go heavily blurred and drowned out the sound of the battlefied for about 5 second or so

I can not agree to the fact that this is "realism", because the game runs 60,000 yr in future. You're a guy who wears cool looking exoskeleton which increases the strength of your muscles, condition. Dropsuit have the shield and armor that increases you're resistance to injury. It is strange that the dropsuit does not have systems that detect threat in the form of approaching missiles and will not generate additional force field to absorb "push back" effect. In the previous build I specialized in destroying vehicles, I had 8500 kills at the end of it. In this build I manage to destroy one of ten tanks mainly because:
1) They are too far away - Forge Gun range was cut from infinity to X. Forge Gun can not "zoom in" therefore, it is impossible to determine whether the next shot will be effective.
2) Target is close - Tank driver see me, and recognize me as a threat. After each shot committed in me direction aim is **** up = dead.
CCP if you think it work as it should be give us skills and modules that stabilize aim, because at the moment, it's totally ****** up. After first day of Precursor I was so nerves that I cancelled subscriptions for my two eve accounts (worse, it helped to alleviate my mood). |

Haven't you ever wondered WHY a similar mechanic isn't in any other well known FPS game? Hell, the only Time I have seen a similar mechanic was in Garrys mod, and in the game type "trouble in terrorist town" it is stupid, remove it. Game play > realism.
All it does is ruin YOUR gameplay. And when you are Red, ruining you game is my sole purpose, Sir. It is an ingenious feature that enhances a supportive weapon system's effectiveness in a way other than boosting dps.
'no self respecting competitive player would approve...' -- do you even realize how much you sound like a pompous British officer from the Revolutionary war?
"these uppity barbaric Yanks won't even stay in proper formation during an engagement! And they are firing upon our officer ranks! The injustice"
In DUST as in every competitive interaction between all life forms, Evolution happens. You may be used to being at the top of this tiny food chain but change is coming.
Keep complaining that things aren't the way you prefer when you were on top. WE will keep adjusting to the times and fighting to keep ahead of you

Hell, the only Time I have seen a similar mechanic was in Garrys mod, and in the game type "trouble in terrorist town" it is stupid, remove it. Game play > realism. This game is different from your straight up competitive shooter. The explosive force makes the mass driver crowd control mechanic a little more viable on the field. Besides, you can't really kill people with those things unless they're standing still or something. In the previous build, all it was good for was dropping shields, and then you'd better have friends nearby to gun them down. Now you can use them to do that, and suppress their ability to fight back, making the Mass Driver user a more effective asset. The things only get 4 rounds and have a stupidly long reload time anyway, so its not as if you don't have a prayer once one starts hitting you. |

Every time I throw them they dissapear, so I just gave up. Makes it more annoying though that every one that gets thrown at me goes off right in my face. |

I wouldnt mind it so much provided the merc made some attempt to reaim back to where he was previously.
Only secnario where Ill leave it as is, is a heavy getting nailed by a railgun from a HAV, that was fun to not only experince but survive. |

it seems REALLY random though. like i'd go so far as to say MOST of the time this does not effect me. so when it does it's like.. "wtf was that?!"
it's SO random i'm not even sure it's connected to explosions?
i guess long term it evens out, "oh no i got shot and it threw my aim off and ****** me" will happen just as often as "i got one shot in and threw his aim off and it saved me"
but it still feels really cheap and completely luck based. |

Reminds me of the pro-remote explosive threads before the abuse became apparent.
If you are going to a have a "thing" that throws off the enemy's aim then that needs to be the only "thing" that "thing" does. |

This isn't about realism, this is about tactical options. Unpredictability. There's the kind of skill that really annoys me in FPS games, which means you basically run around with your railgun one-shotting everybody because you know how to jump and aim better than the next guy. And then there's real skill that is capable of adapting to circumstances you didn't expect. Making it so explosives don't affect your aim is not only unrealistic, it reduces the range of possibility and makes tactical adaptation less relevant. |
