Seriously, this is ridiculous.
Today I tried not-sniping. Which is to say, today the game forced me to use tactics and setups for which I have zero allocated skillpoints aside from the basic Light weapon and Weaponry skills. It did this because we are unable to pick our game types.
I understand that CCP either doesn't have the ability to let us choose right now, or is unwilling to do so in order to test many of their maps. But, you know, after the first few games of getting farmed due to having no skills for 'Team PvP' maps, I got seriously tired of it, and then started just Leaving Game when I noticed one of those maps had loaded. Unfortunately, this usually wastes 5 minutes of one's life as it has to find a game, wait for the game to find players, load into the War Barge room, wait two minutes, load into the game, etc.
It wasn't until I hit upon this realization that, when I started doing it, I noticed a cascade of "-GAMER- has left the battle!" notations in the top right of the screen each time I got one of those random DM maps. Apparently I was just slow in realizing this! Naturally, it also explains my constantly getting farmed, as the only people who WANTED to stay the entire time were people who were specced for it.
All of this can be easily fixed by showing us the game type and map name in the loading lobby, the War Barge Waiting Room, or both. I can understand if there's issues 'picking' one's server, but please at LEAST consider doing this so people can decide ahead of time if they really want to be screwed by the random-game-assignment system.
Failing that, please at least get someone to script the spawn points to NOT spawn you in when 2 or more enemies are within 10 or so meters of the spawn point. As much as I LOVE getting one-shot approximately 1.5 seconds after fully respawning, it gets rather tedious. If that is too much effort, please consider some sort of 'respawn invulnerability', say, 10 seconds of being immune to damage from foes and also being unable to attack. Alternatively, have that 10 seconds but allow the newspawn to attack, and if they do so, have THAT end the invulnerability. So the foolish ones can continue sacrificing themselves to Darwin, while the rest of us can run for cover and prepare ourselves accordingly. |

Thanks for the reminder there Mobius, but I already said as much about 'forcing us to play it' in my original post.
As for selecting Skirmish-only, is there a way to set this as an option? Some setting or tab that I in my foolish fury have missed?
Because yesterday, at least, there were no Skirmish maps available on the selector screen. None. Not one, and the one thing that WAS visible was more of the Ambush PvP. Everything had to be be done by "Quick Battle" rules--ie: randomly throwing the dice and ending up on terrible game types and maps. And if they REALLY wanted to force us, they wouldn't let us leave game, as I saw dozens of others doing over and over to try and get into Skirmish mode through the random selector. |
