Who would like to see the following added? The longer you leave your mic on, the greater your signal presence on the radar screen? (It resets each time your mic is off)
Hopefully this would reduce the number of arguments, TV shows, and movies heard in the background... |

Hopefully this would reduce the number of arguments, TV shows, and movies heard in the background... Well someone could just turn their Mic on and off, negating the penalty. Good thought though. |

turing ur mic off would mean u cant comunicate, so doing that to avoid the penalty would be dumb,
u would have to make push to talk a requirement, if it isnt already for this to work |

Yeah, I'm glad to see that they've added push to talk. Previously I would mute/unmute my own mic when I played- even though my mic only transmits when there are loud noises or I talk.
I just grew weary of this the other night while I was playing and there was someone with an open mic with a movie playing in the background and their dog was barking non-stop. |

We need an indicator on the HUD to show who is talking. I always mute my mic because I'm paranoid that I might be broadcastsing noise. I have never seen any evidence that I have a bad mic, but you know there's those guys out there. Their headset is emiting some awful buzz. I don't think they are aware of it.
But that gets me thinking. What if I'm "that guy".
But yeah, if people know when they are broadcasting noise then I think more people will make an effort to mute their mic when they aren't talking. |

I, for one, think this is an excellent idea, +1
The devs made a huge mistake by not properly explaining the new push-to-talk feature, but it can still be fixed and this would be a great way to subtly condition people to start using it.
And for those who can't wrap their heads around it, push to talk not only eliminates annoying background noise, it also puts less load on the server. Totally worth the horrible inconvenience of having to push one little button IMO. |

Totally srs
Especially after listening to an absolutely riveting argument between a kid and his mom about doing the dishes...
Besides, it makes sense- Longer your radio is on = the more signal you generate = more likely to be detected |

sooo..... i'm in a squad with my three other friends, we always play fps together and we chat a lot about our lives, and you want to penalize use for being social sorry but fu... you worst idea ever, devs would be shooting themselves in the foot if they do that |

I still say push to talk should NOT be a requirement on console games with as many buttons used as DUST has. OPTION, yes, DEFAULT, no. |

personally........imho.......its a horrible idea, simply mute ppl u dont wanna hear problem solved. No way should ppl show up on radar, if u want some sort of thing revealing ur position then implement proxy chat like we asked and use ur own ears to determine where the sound coming from IF u are close enough,
PTT is already terrible with the left dpad as it takes u out of the action PTT only useful when playin with randoms if u dont wanna hear ppl imo |

I do think there should be a way for people to socialize- perhaps a squad only or proxy chat. My idea is directed more for those people who not only leave their mic on the entire game, but they broadcast the entire time to everyone- interfereing with other's people's game/convos as well.
Sure, everyone can try and go through the player list each match and mute the offenders, but I believe this would be a better solution that fits within the game world.

Truy doubt there's even 50% who use mics.... Would be nice though.
Not a milsim, but pretty close.

I don't have a problem with that. At least they wouldn't be on the entire match.
Unless you mean someone who screams the entire match and just turns the mic on and off repeatedly... That person should have a special layer of #ell created just for them. |

I don't think having the mic on is a problem, so long as we aren't picking up all the background noise in someone's house.
Me, I like push to talk. Currently, I fumble for my mute button on my headset every time I want to talk. This is a big improvement for me. |

All this idea would do is benefit non-mic users as they would never have the problem of being highlighted, bad idea really as we want more people on the mics not an amazing excuse for them to not use comms!!! |
