Took this directly from my Eve Online client.
For the record, a Ragnarok can field 7-8 of these. On each side of the ship.
Before you go and do the math on it, it's rounds are about 12 feet across.

Not really. Eve players use other forms of communications for voice comms. I think its text chat that is free across the board. |

Enjoy sleeping at night. Not to be too much of a downer, but it looks like Destroyers are going to be the first stage of strike capability, given what they said about this Winter's scheduled rebalance. |

The Revelation was the only Dreadnaught used for that purpose in that novel, but "danger close" for a strike from it's lasers was described as 900 meters. That's probably not the kind of firepower you want to be bringing down anywhere near something you're trying to capture intact, but it'll be great for field-clearing. |

Rag has six hardpoints, so while it can theoretically have as many as 12 turret models on it only six can be firing.
Also, even if dessies are the ones doing the bombardments, that'd still **** up infantry. The largest small projectile turrets are 280mm, or about 11 inches. I wouldn't want that to be shot from space and land on me. |

Read earlier that sisi has been flooded with desty's on the market so this would tie in. Read ages ago that they were concidering this to help give destroyers a role, and so as not to cost new users out of the whole orbital strike thing. Plus when u think about it, who's gonna wanna be pay'd for an OS by dust players who make like 400k a match. Not people with bs's or tech 2 stuff anyway. running missions or npc hunting is much more profitable. Good npc spawns can give 10,000,000 isk for like 5 mins work. But people with destroyers would expect more like 50k from a mission than 50m. Those are prices WE can pay |

I don't think someone smart would really field a titan just to kill some DUSTies that would equate to maybe 5 mil in damage. Besides, if a titan could shoot a planet, it would probably destroy it. :D |

I'm glad you made some references to the kind of ISK people are making in EVE. Since this latest patch I've found the prices of items quite worrying. Inflation is looking like 10x for all the tanks I've been trying out, and I can't imagine paying for an orbital strike. But if EVE players can make 10s of millions then that makes buying a gun in packs of 100 possible. I was wondering how they could afford us. |

Been a while since Iv been in eve. But, the cost of the standard tier 1 BS used to be about 70m. Its a players market though so prices change up and down, but it will float around there generally. The BS is the workhorse but mainly people use the tier 3 ones which are ish 150m. Tech 2 or marauders and black ops are significantly more.
That said though. Remember that our kit lasts a few minutes. Iv had insurance run out on ships before in eve (insurance lasted so many months and paid out so much if you lost your ship) and bare in mind I played that religiously! |

would like to see if they implement a sponsoring system. Like you put up a little corp and the eve player will sponsor you with better equipment. Cause at the moment i use mainly militia-standard stuff. Well the merc pack scout suit and the raven assault suit (last 1 costs 1200 AUR and is a blueprint aswell) did a good job assisting me to maintain a decent income. |

They will be sponsoring you in a way. They give you a contract, you complete it, they pay you, you buy more expensive stuff |

Price for a baddon has been near 250mil for quite some time now and same goes for other batteleships, well for anything since they nerfed the drone regions along with "gun mining" and kicked the botters out, some alliances lost 100's of billions in assets gained from botting over night.
Hence mineral prices are now near "the price you pay to be equal with lvl 4 mission bounties" in other words we have inflation in EvE. |

Nasty that's like 40% inflation per year since I last played. Guess that's not helped by burn jita and similar events |

Seriously? I've been hit by an orbital strike.. was curious about its power. it took 7 seconds to kill me, and I was in Militia gear... Now... you're going to try to fire 7-8 of those at the same spot? good luck. That might dent a tank. |

On topic: Currently the orbital strikes are just functional to the point that you can call them. CCP has also mentioned a few times that orbital strikes (shot from the war barge) are very different from orbital bombardment (shot from Eve players). |

Ok check it out guys... This is my theory based on some things I've heard or w/e.. There's going to be some battles you'll experience OB where a corporation has gained the upper hand in the space battle and the OBs are going to rain down because the corporation has all their stuff worked out that includes multiple mercs on the ground with OB calling capability and multible OBers that are in place because the opposing could not destroy them because of whats going on in the space battle.
Suddenly when the opposing OBers are destroyed because of a change in the space battle things will calm down or so there are many possibilties here we just don't really know yet. Not every battle are the EVE pilots going to have OB capability it all depends on where the battle is taking place in the galaxy.
Now some EVE players assume there just goona fly mulitbox of destroyers on their very own and solo OB us, that's very unlikely because the destroyes have to travel through null space and are not fitted for anything but OB there gonna get smashed by pirates that have nothing to do with planetary AI, the pirates have their own agendas.
The solo EVE player can't just waltz thru null space with one or multiple destroyers without an escort, their stupid for assuming that but it could happen on a rare chance. Nothing is absolute here.
You have vast sections of relatively empty null sec space in EVE where there are smaller corps are just mainly pirates and nullbears (people risking to PVE in the null sec zone)
in these areas your not gonna get hammered by OB like say in the Great Wilderlands but in an area such as Delve you might see ridiculous matches where the planet is razed with OB strikes because of the industrial giants at war with each other, if your fighting near one of these giants base of operations and they are your corps enemy you could witness what looks to be unfair but remember there are many places in EVE and nothing stays the same for ever it's constantly changing depending on whats going on in the overall game. |
