I will wait till the "full update" to reserve comments but so far the shooting mechanics haven't improved an iota, the movement and frame rates have improved dramatically though.
I think CCP should remove the laser 'vomit discharge' effect on weapons and actually use plain old hit markers (like in Killzone games for e.g.).
Thoughts, comments, anger, outrage, sadness? ;p |

I actually think hit detection is a lot better and I've been playing a sniper for the last two weekends. You really notice bad hit detection as a sniper.
Anyway, Im not sure what you mean but the statement above could you clarify what you mean by "vomit discharge effect" in less "artistic" language . |

when you shoot, there is this yellow discharge that comes out of your weapons, I think its supposed to be bullet shells spraying out or laser heat discharges but it looks like some laser vomit projectile matter, hehehehe |

From what I know about eve lore I think its supposed to be plasma. Its not that bad? Would it be better if it was a different colour, or would you rather it not be there at all?
Personally, I don't mind it, it gives battlefield a nice sic-fi battle feeling. I guess it a matter of taste. |

You'll most likely see standard muzzle flashes for Minmatar weapons, possibly no muzzle flash for Caldari gauss weapons, and some kind of flaring effect for Amarr laser weapons. |

When you fire repeatedly it makes it harder to aim and is distracting. |

I'm also betting that, following the way these things work in EVE, blasters will be the highest damage-dealers in Dust. In that case, the plasma discharge around the muzzle would be a side effect of that power advantage. |

Yes but if your considering blasters from EvE when you say that shouldnt they also be one of the shortest range weapons too?
Atleast that's how they balance them in space I suppose a dust battlefield isn't really large enough to take that into account atm. |

Now Gallente use blasters and drones, which raises a whole other question: when do we get to deploy drones? |

I thought caldari were missiles primarily with some usage of "hybrid" weapons meaning blasters or rails |

Correct, Gallente and Caldari both utilize "hybrid" weapons, which are a combination of projectile and energy weapons. Long range hybrids are rail guns, short range are blasters. |

Wrong, while Gallente and Caldari both use hybrids, Gallente focus on blaster technology more than railguns, while the Caldari focus on railguns, in addition to missiles. Gallente ships are faster than Caldari, so a high damage short range weapon makes more sense there, while the Caldari prefer to keep range. Ships however, arnt limited to using blasters or railguns, its just what they get bonuses for. You can put rails on a blaster boat, but why would you? |

Well, kind of. It doesn't really break down as simply as that. Neither faction relies primarily on hybrids, and both have ships that are used with one, the other, or either. In every case the ship just gets bonuses to hybrids, not to rails or blasters.
For example while I've never heard of a rail fit Megathron Gallente Interceptor pilots often fit rails to stay out of web range. Before the drone damage mods became a thing some sniper Ishtars used rails so they could contribute to the DPS.
We might want to think that the Moa and Rokh are made to fit rails because of their optimal range bonuses, but plenty of gangs employ blaster Rokhs. 900 or so DPS with a 10km optimal is nothing to scoff at, after all. Their hybrid AF, the Harpy, also likes blasters.
It's not even that important a distinction anyway. How did we get on this tangent? |
