Okay,
CCP you need to read and take head to this post.
I have been a FPS console gamer since way back when. When I found out about DUST I got into EVE a little bit. And I will admit, EVE is a great game. With that said, CCP, you need to listen to all of the FPS console gamers on your forums. They are some of the most loyal gaming fans that exist......just look at COD.......which I hate by the way. Anyways, seriously listen to them they are right. If you are releasing this game after 2 more releases then, those releases better be 6 months apart from each other.
One the hit detection issue....I agree completely that it needs tweaked but, I don't think it's as bad as what some people are saying. For example, I have been shooting some one and nothing happens to them and it's as if my bullets were air soft bb's and not even phasing them. I didn't even get the hit detection (little red x) that pops up when you shoot some one......THIS NEEDS FIXED.
But on the other hand: Example again, I am more of a FPSer that likes to complete objectives and heal people. With that said my aiming is not as good as it should be for some one who has been playing FPS games as long as I have. But, I can kill people, most of the time I am hitting a person from their chest down. It takes a while and a lot of reloading but I can kill htis way. At first I thought this was ****** game mechanics THEN, my brother from out of town comes over, and he is a FPSer who prides himself on his K/D ratio, and he is extremely accurate. He was head shotting people left and right like crazy, I was astonished, I thought the game mechanics sucked, instead it was just me who did.
With that said, there are issues with the hit detection that do need fixed but, it isn't as bad as some people are saying. Or maybe it's not a hit detection issue at all.....after watching my brother game for an hour or so, I started to think maybe CCP has it coded that the head is EXTREMELY sensitive to bullets where as the torso is extremely resistant to bullets, regardless of skills or armor or shield type. This is just a thought though. All I can say is my brother had no issues killing people on MY console where as I have all the issues in the world. Maybe CCP should toughen up the head a little and weaken the torso a little.
Have fun guys and remember, we all have a passion for this game or else we wouldn't be here. So lets try to get along and help make it as awesome as it could be. |

Killface Rodeo wrote:Just posting to support the creator of this thread. He is right on the money with this. It also seems there are too many fanboys in this community denying the fact that the game looks and plays like utter ****. I'm already disliking this game and the community. Good luck to you CCP if you think that only having a blind fanbase is going to help you in the end. I'm not going to buy "it's still in beta argument" either. Nothing has improved gameplay wise. You are still an FPS, it is the only actual gameplay to be had. So make it decent at the very least. This bullshit circle jerking is just awful.
Really dude? You must be one of those people who get a beta to play a game early, correct? Not, to help test it and give constructive feedback, correct? The game is still in beta, CCP has never said that they wouldn't fix anything. That is why we are here posting and giving our honest opinions of the game and what can and should be done to make it better. WE ARE NOT, here to be assholes and jack offs about how s h i t t y we think the game is. If you don't like it, great, bounce and circle jerk with COD or somehting, but there is no need to be a complete a s s about the game when it's STILL a beta.
The creator of the thread was being honest and custructive about how he feels the game could be better. He wasn't being an *******.......come on man.....what happened to being real and true and having some pride in yourself?
FYI the fanbase is not blind at all. In case you haven't read the forums.....most of the posters are COD, BF3, RainbowSix, fans. CCP is trying to do something epic when it comes to gaming in general. Will they get it exactly right? I don't know. All I do know is that the first car ever created wasn't perfect.
Basically man, have some dignity for yourself and be respectful or leave. We as true FPSer's don't need you. |

First of all the hit box itself is great. You can shoot between the legs and miss the person, which is great. If you just is them, it is a miss, which is great. I hate seeing games like CoD where you get hit in an extended finger and act like it was a full body shot.
Lag can cause you to miss when you think you hit. I find it annoying when I and shooting with a person in my cross hair and they do not take damage. That said leading your shot has been important in DUST and I like that.
Each suit does have a different shaped and sized hit box of course, so the Scout should be harder to hit. Now that the frame rate has improved the Scout suit is getting hit by more bullets. Things have improved greatly in regards to hitting a moving enemy.
The hit detection is not 100%, but it is also far from broken. It does certainly have issues sometimes and is more of a lag issue than a hit box issue. I haven't played fps for best part of a decade (Rainbowsix3 on the x box 03/04). Played eve since 05 so I agree with op that I don't have a clue about what he means with hit detection. Sooo I will look a prat and ask for a definition too, so I can understand the problem and test it to. Hit detection being screwed doesn't help me with testing or understanding the mechanics of the issue.
Here's the best I can come up with man: Hit Detection - The act of registering or detecting a hit from a bullet, knife, or another object in a game environment. |
