No, the scout suits are broken. My boundless breach smg barely touched his sheilds at all and I was hitting him and while I was watching his sheild bar slightly move - it jumped right back up to full sheilds just before I died in a prototype assult suit with 750 sheilds and armor. I don't get it - it's easier for me to kill a proto type heavy with a forge gun, then it is for me to kill a scout suit. And no he wasn't jumping all over the place either but yes he was moving. I just don't get it CCP, why won't you fix that which is broke. And let's not go there with the dropship's cause they are beyond broken. 4 Myrons and 2 Gorgons later and they are still way uncontrolable. Sad, just sad. Oh and the rail guns that shoot all the way across the map ?? That's a joke. |

Edit: Nope still broken - Sat. Aug. 18th am - put a whole clip into a scoutsuit ( point blank range and he wasn't moving around ) and it didn't even touch his sheilds. So either my Toxin SMG is broke or he really wasn't there because of lag or the scoutsuit is still broken. Not sure which it is, but I think its the last. |

When he says broken he doesn't mean bad. Scout suits coupled with the horrible hit detection are untouchable that's what makes them broken and then what ever bullets you get in them they regen there shields in a pinch. |

What we dont know yet is what bomuses the different suit skills and suits will give.
Im bettin scout stuff wont be weapon damage, major tank bonuses etc
Whereas Assault suits probably will be.
Even the basic ships in Eve now get several bonuses. And that paradigm is certainly being reflected in Dust.
Now maybe they arent gonna be as high as the eve ones because smaller changes in a FPS have a bigger impact on game play so lets assume the base bonus is 3% not 5%.
If you could specify two bonuses to a suit class what would they be?
Scout +3% sensor range/lvl +3% movement speed/lvl
Assault +3%/lvl light weapon damage +3% damage resistance/lvl
or something like. Suit bonuses are to emphasise strengths not smooth out weaknesses. Now at all lvl 5 skills, in a toe to toe which suit is likey to win? (Emphasis on likely...) What can make a huge difference to this is individual player skill. |

As a notorious scout suit user I have to agree with the OP. This however, is partially true. They have now changed the suits all across the board making them have different base speed for each tier. The proto scout suit has 5.6 m/s I believe, the standard suit has 5.1 m/s which is as close to as make no difeference the same as an assault suit. So lets for argument here talk about the proto suit. (I tried the Valor scout suitwith a speed of 5.1 and I got totally destroyed.)
I like the scout suit for two reasons: They take me from A to B a lot faster, giving me a +100 instead of a +50 when raceing a teammate for a hack, its generally just boring to use too much game time for transportation. I also like the super fast regen of both shields and not least stamina. They also look quite cool.
When engaged in cqc I always get owned by smg spraying scout suits, every time. I circle strafe normally, moving in an arch around my opponent while I try to keep a continious barrage of bullets loosely aimed at the head. And I do fairly well, as long as I can sneak in and get close and hopefully take them off guard. Its very very far from God mode, I'll promise you that.
After some bitching from my friend who claimed I was "EZ-moding" it, I was kind of baffled. (For those of you who know me and my Raven history, you know how much off an insult that is.) After some discussion we came to the conclusion that I was doing it all "wrong." So I tried a couple of games to do the back and forth strafe dance right infront of my victims. This is were I move the L3 stick as rapid as I can from side to side. The movement is so small and quick that you can forget about realigning your aim with the R3 stick. Many bullets go left and right of my target but I hit it each time I pass over him.
First off I noticed that I generally needed many more bullets to take somebody down, my aim is usually quite good, even when straifing. The second thing I noticed is that i can stand my ground against a heavy without taking virtually any damage. I used this, well lets for the sake of argument call it a "tachnique" for 4--5 games and I hardly died at all. Its so very broken. This definately needs to be fixed, the only counter I know about is to throw a direct hit grenade at them, provided that you have any left.
For what its worth, I do my very best to not take advantage of this, though it isn't that easy all the time. I really hope they fix this issue, I'll roll with a scout/AR setup after the next wipe, which should come quite soon, and at least it will stop me from spraying wildly as so many aimless noobs seem to be doing with the traditional scout/smg or scout/shotgun combos.

I need more time in-game, but as an assault the 'backpedal, strafe and smg' has always worked well against scouts for me, including in the Precursor build. the trick is not getting too close.
And if a scout does get too close then the fight is in his chosen terrain, so to speak, I try and get out of there and engage later at greater range. The changes to smg have made this tactic more viable.
I'm not saying hit detection isn't broken, just that you gotta try and keep scouts at range. |

Just wait for electronic warfare, guys. Once you can fry our shields we are sitting ducks. (It takes two, maybe three bullets to kill me once shields are down.)
This should be alleviated with the wipe and the new pricing structure, but I feel like people (especially heavies) constantly underestimate Proto scouts on the battlefield (even if they are complaining here). A good scout should know how to play smart and pick his battles. Even when I am dominating the field, I have to be cognizant of how quickly I can go down under concentrated fire. Combine that with Proto gear and you've got a crazy fast, high damage opponent who is doing everything possible to fight asymmetrically. When I start taking fire or see a group of five guys, I bolt, but then I return from the opposite direction.
TL;DR - Scouts fight smart, even when they have the gear advantage. |

and don't be saying wait until electronic warfare...the scout suit is the most fragile suit, it shouldn't take a special case scenario to take it out. |

I don't twitch; I retreat and flank, and there were plenty of Assault suits doing the truffle shuffle in the last build. My point, however muddled, was that a lot of people always assume the scout will have less health than them, when a shield tanking Proto scout could have total HP on par with some Advanced assault fittings. (Definitely faster recharge.) A scout with better gear than you is not even close to a soft target (until E-war). |

Your comment here is laughable as best. Tank need a huge hp buff or Anti Vehicle weapons needs to be turned down in some way of fashion. Lol pretty much.
Last build I started out playing scout suit and wow, yah.. it seemed like easy mode. I played while using it just as I ever did assault and it did the job better. Still went assault but later that build regretted it, may do scout this time around if I get the chance just to see how ridiculous it is when you get proto suit. I've played against a lot of players who have had mediocre aim and ability at best but were able to survive waves of bullets thanks to twitch strafing and terrible hit detection + ridiculous shield regen.
Hope you work these things out CCP, only reason I would pick assault over scout if scout is better at assaulting is for the ability to use more proto mods + SL. |
