I got about $20 worth of AUR for the pre "E3 build" and also the Merc pack to see what it was all about. That is probably all I will spend but we shall see.
I can tell anyone that is dissappointed because they got the Merc pack and then were all like "What, this game sucks hard it isn't even done or anything." That the merc pack was a much better deal than getting into the beta free and then spending $20 to get a chunk of AUR.
Merc pack was kind of a weird deal, but the Beta access is just an added bonus on top of what you got for your twenty. So now you get to tell CCP how you think the game should work. So shut up about how it isn't done and tell them what you want.
edit* I would pay and pay for custom color and custom logos on all my gear. And maybe skill booster but that I am trying to quit. |

I all ready purchased the merc pack. To be honest, so far I feel it has been a waste. Game is more like alpha than beta. And, playing logi is beyond frustrating.
It still has much to be fixed before I will even think of spending more money. |

But, that is because I've been unemployed for some time now.
I hope to be getting a job soon, and once I do, I'll be throwing some money CCPs way.

And i don't mean full launch by that ,, otherwise get the feeling it'll be a long long time..... DCUO still feels like a beta,, so at some point im just gonna accept it (as long as Dust is improving of course) |

It has always been my opinion - If you like program / app, show a little appreciation to the developer. A vast majority of the world love Angry Birds, yet people don't want to pay $1 to show some appreciation to (see if you know the comapny name).
personally I paid for the MERC Pack, and the 4000 AUR alone is worth $20. Not to mention for someone just starting out, the Dropsuit and Toxin Gun (bother permanent items) will get them started and out of the Militia Dropsuits early on. Plus the 30 day booster is a good thing.
Will I spend in the future? Ehh - depends on how things turn out at launch. It's just in beta currently, so I don't put too much thought into it as far as the games current state. |

You get access to every beta event, THE GAME IS FREE WHEN IT GOES LIVE, and you get refunds on all the AUR on every character wipe. |

i havent waisted a dime in this game been memeber for a month in half you get isk super fast sp u can get by using the drpship killing people with 1 shot. next update will just make every weaker and let me kill them. |

Yes, i've spend 20 dollars in the pre E3 build and iam planning on spending more in the next build , probably 20-40 a month. Those will mostly go to skill boosters and vanity items. But seeings how SP will be obtained at a slower rate (current is 4x) i see no reason not to spend money getting access to a higher tier items before you have the skills to buy the ISK equivalent.
And really why wouldn't you spend money on this game? Even at this stage it has more depth and customization than COD or BF(hell i would even say more than those 2 combined) and if your willing to spend 60$ (more like 110 for BF3 premuim and COD Elite) on those why not spend at least 10 on this? |

I think thats the crucial point,, while it feels weird purchasing stuff through microtransactions..... COD or BF players (if theyre hardcore) have likely pumped -ú110 into the game before even going online..... THATS the comparable price, rather than a -ú40 game disk.... so tenner a month is more than reasonable (once the full games running) IMO for a great game. |

I bought the merc pack, and I intend to use skill boosters. I look at it as a subscription fee, 150% is normal sp gain, option to play free with 2/3 sp gain. I'll reactivate one of my EvE accounts to send merc isk once I get new pc, dino couldn't play incarna right. |

Ive bought 4000 aur via the merc pack. Gonna get the other half price 4000 aur via the discount merc pack for plus members.
Also remember you not just playing for the game as is but the perceptual future development, improvements, bug fixes and new content. |

I bought the merc pack, even though I had a beta key.
From here on out, I will always have the skill point boost up when I'm playing the game, thinking of it as my monthly sub. As for other items, I will reward myself with clusters and spikes when I get bored, and early access items when I get curious. Odds are I will spend 5-10 bucks a month on this game, or nothing if I am distracted by something else. |

In EVE, you pay to fly cool ships. Here, I believe we'll get vehicles as the equivalent. I would spend money on vehicles, I'm thinking of MTACs, if they look good and realistic and not like toys in certain games.
My monthly budget is the same as the normal subscription amount.
As for my spending record: I've gotten the merc pack, but haven't used any AUR. There weren't anything that would change my game differently by buying with AUR. |

I got into the closed beta before the merc pack. I don't have to pay anything.
It was my choice to purchase the merc pack and at least two additional (smaller) injections of Aurum.
Why? First and foremost is because I like this game, this game company and the idea & potential of what this product could mean for all of us.
Second, I wanted to test the micro transaction system to see how easy to use it could be. I have been pleased with the results.
And since they intend to re-credit my account for all the Aurum I spend prior to release it makes even more sense to try it out.
But back to the first reason for a moment...
We are all customers. We buy food and gas, pay rent, go to movies and out partying with friends. If we have money we decide how to spend it. We tend to seek out what we believe has a greater value relative to its price and purchase that
The whole micro transaction business model is new and the industry thinks it can work. But please don't forget that games come from game Companies. And companies have to make $ to keep doing what they do
Aurum, because it's purchase is not mandatory and doesn't provide a big boost to indivual performance in game, essentially becomes a proxy for your VOTE
If you like CCP and dust then you have the option to vote in that regard with any purchase you make
If enough people vote for it then CCP can continue to expand and build dust
As long as they can keep a huge number of people trying the game the percentage of people needed to vote (use micro transactions) stays low
If we help promote, test, vote for and play Dust we help CCP do this thing that has not been done before
Ask not what your game can do for you, ask what you can do for your game!

Your Thukker ontop of the tower the other night was class. I managed to fail at squashing the nice group of 3, and while they stared dumbfounded at my Dropship, BANG. Triple kill. I still won't use em. AV nades 24/7.
