I think it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
In my opinion, this little effect is likely aimed at aiding Heavies and giving them some more purpose. After all, they buffed the HMG a bit but didn't really change the damage (at least from what I've read). It's also likely to discourage strafing even further.
At any rate, I certainly hope they add more cover to the game if they're going to keep going down this road. This slow down effect seems eerily reminiscent to the Suppression effect from BF3, and that would be annoying if we're stuck with wide open spaces again. |

Webifiers on infantry is hell on Earth in an FPS. I really, really hope that ends up only affecting vehicles. I'm not even sure how you'd get webs to affect people anyway. |

Dust is a bit more complex than that tho with objectives and a higher base requirement of teamwork. I feel those matter a lot more than in most games and having a good team with comms will have a very profound effect on who is considered good. Im speaking of meta game and skirmish here. Ambush and the arena are outside of my points. You can have the greatest communication in the world, but if you can't shoot **** you lose it's been proven time and time again. Further more there is nothing complex about objective based game modes where you press "O" to hack a point and wait for it to turn to your favor. Communication Gëá teamwork. It's a big factor, but it's not teamwork. The people with real teamwork, the people who can communicate, organize and execute their plans are usually the ones that win.
Of course, the thing is that usually the people who are good at shooting things are also good at genuinely working together. |

Ten-Sidhe wrote:The webifiers create some kind of energy web that tangles the target up. The fluff would let it work on infantry, it would make a scout move heavy speed if using eve's reduction. I heard they will be a grenade, so small area of effect to sprint 1/2 speed out of if they do affect dropsuits. I'm not worried to much, and I run mainly scouts. Seem to be a counter to scout circle strafe and to slow escape of vehicles from forge/swarm, nothing that game changing. Webs were very short ranged in eve, same here I'd guess. Webs that affect infantry speed will likely cause many a player to rage vomit all over their consoles. It's so horrible....
Needless to say, I don't like the idea. It affecting vehicles is great because as you said it'll help taking down vehicles, but on infantry? Way too iffy. |
