As you may or may not know I have complained about this game having poor FPS mechanics for a purpotedly AAA shooter before.
But I have also said that this game holds a lot of promise with its metagame with EVE and the economic and political aspects.
So, before I stop playing this game because I find the shooting mechanics and movement a bit 'stuttery' (is that even a word?) and wonky I will try to grind it out and level up my assault class before the next build. And YES I KNOW IT'S A BETA.
So far I have unlocked the second-to-last category Assault Rifles (next up is Duoville and Creo) and am now trying to unlock more better dropsuits and dropsuit abilities (armor, shield), stamina (vigor), and other skills like better speed, accuracy, handling of weapons, etc.
It seems from what I have read that all these attributes and skills really make your shooting and movement better and so on.
Also, the game seems to be running better right now for some reasons than a few weeks back when this build came out. Maybe CCP increase the server capacity. There is less frame rate stutters and movement and hit detection seems to be better (quicker and more fluid).
Anyway, I thought I'd share this with the community, maybe inspiring to try the levelling up approach before making their minds up. I just read about the next build and the Singularity Server, etc., and I am getting excited and hopeful again that this game may be great after all.... |

Good luck!
If you have background with shooters, you should have no problem taking people down with the creo.
I think people (myself included) just want more consistant gun-play on the server side. (hopefully that comes as each patch is released) |

I played BFBC2, BF3, KZ3, and yes, shudders, call of duty games... (I am actually secretly hopeful B-Ops 2 is fun and teamplay based, but it probably won`t be) |

Also the "leveling up approach" isn't really an approach.....it's a core mechanic of the game. Having chosen to ignore that until now just makes you seem misinformed or lazy.
Either way good luck getting back into it. |

You know what I mean, I will try to grind it out to see if the game plays better on 'higher gear'. Hopefully though when a 'quicker' build comes out (less frame rates issues, more fluid landscape rendition, more fluid movements, more fluid strafing speed, etc.) a decently skilled FPS player should be able to still do well on basic weapons.
In most FPS you can own hard with the 'starter' weapons if your 'natural skill level' is high enough, that is, the time you have put into the game practicing to shoot and so on.
It doesn't seem like DUST will be built so that 'naturally skilled' players will be able to play well with basic gear but will need the better gear to own people.
I just want to test out this theory before the next build. |

Nonsense, I do perfectly fine with the Militia gear, I just do better with the upgraded gear :) If you're naturally good at FPS games, you can do fine with crappy gear, just as long as you aren't expecting to win a fight with a proto that saw you first - you gotta be sneaky! :) |

at the moment I can mainatin the same kill rates (usually 10+ in ambush) with assault milita default gear however dying is another question entirely. Also it seems everyone likes to shoot the blackest thing on the field wearing proto makes you a bullet magnet. |

Oh man is that ever good to know I now have a better idea of who to be harassing with my Forge Gun. |

The largest light on them is right behind the forward face plate near where the odd 'triangle' eye socket is on our current suits in that diamond area emmiting from the plate and shining into the soft dimond material area. |

theres nothing wrong with the game style, its the company with their money grabbing and lack of innovation that is pissing people off. |
