i would suggest you put 1 more point into your caldari assault suit skill for now, that will unlock the type-II suit. it's pretty great for how cheap it is. in both skillpoints and isk
the type-II suit strongly favors shields, which is nice because it lets you get away with "ignoring" your armor for now, and lets you use the low slots on CPU/PG upgrades if you need em.
next you'll wanna upgrade assault rifles, swarm launchers, submachine guns, and shields. in no particular order.
i know everybody has a boner for assault rifles, but i promise you an advanced swarm launcher is better against tanks than a prototype AR. do not ignore them. people call in vehicles. it happens. there is no excuse to be surprised by it any more.
the SMGs are sidearms, for now you likely won't be able to fit anything better than a basic model, or a toxin if you have it. but they are a huge boon for your swarm fits, and are still good to have around on your rifle fits, as swapping is faster than reloading. the smg skill also gives a damage bonus for its initial skill. so even if you don't have the PG/CPU to use upgraded models, upgrading the skill is a solid passive buff.
shields you'll wanna upgrade eventually anyway. no matter what you're doing, the enemy is prolly gonna wanna shoot at you. i suggest doing it early because it gels so well with the type-II assault suit. shield upgrades is an excellent early skill as you only need it to 4 to use the prototype shield modules. shield management will add 5% per upgrade to your max shield strength, and shield operation will increase recharge rate.
you probably started with the skill to use nanohives. they go fantastically with swarm launchers, but are always useful.
you'll also wanna put points into electronics and engineering, as these are again, excellent blanket skills that help you get more out of your suits. as you upgrade them you may find you have less need for PG/CPU modules in your low slots. that would mean it's time to start upgrading armor skills, and eventually get your next tier dropsuit. (be warned though, it's a huge skillpoint drought between suits after the type-II. which is why we spent so much time on it)
the advanced suit relies less on shields, adopting a more balanced approach again, so those armor skills we ignored at first become a lot more important. something to keep in mind BEFORE you spend a million skillpoints for the privilege of spending triple the isk per suit. |
