One thing that EVE players might be afraid of is how far CCP will take Dust. The main talks right now are about these two universes lightly brushing each other, on the overall scale the interactions are VERY VERY limited compared to what they could be. For example, during one of the conferences an extremely short bit of information was thrown up about mercs on Eve ships, defending and fighting battles in the hulls.
Now it seems very far off, nigh impossible atm, but I feel like CCP will want to continue integrating these games more and more over the years. Maybe not quite to that scale but (depending on Dust's success) definitely If they did something like this, unless it was done PERFECTLY, it could entirely destroy the EVE gamer experience.
As a Dusty I would think it would be AWESOME to be able to fly up to and sabotage ships, take the space-craft experience that was too short in Halo Reach and expand it to it's limit. I won't lie, I WANT that bad, but if I were an EVE player (as I soon might be anyway) I would be PISSED if that happened. It is all speculation at this point though and people that get so worked up about this stuff need to relax and be a bit more open-minded, |

As an Eve pilot, I also agree that this would be AWESOME. I'm all for more depth in the game. They would have to be careful about that kind of interaction, but I trust CCP to figure out a way to balance it and make it work. |

1: What is the true purpose of Dust (besides making CCP money)?
To expand on the New Eden universe and make it into a fully immersive science fiction simulator of sorts. At least according to CCP back during Fanfest 2010.
2: What gamers is Dust being made for?
According to CCP during Fanfest 2012 and during the E3 presentations, every kind of FPS player. From casuals to hardcore. From grinders to buyers. But still making it balanced while learning their hard lessons from Monoclegate.
3: Why are Eve players so afraid of Dust have a true impact on New Eden?
Just so you know, Eve players (both casual and hardcore types) are often the ones who advocate the "adapt or die" philosophy and are actually preparing themselves for the impact Dust will make. Therefore, your question is moot.

Most pilots know what they are getting into and ship boarding would only happen to those who were in a battle zone. I am an explorer, I get my stuff destroyed all the time but I an never in a spot to get boarded. If my ship was to be boarded I wouldn't be too upset because there would be a module that released clones onto the ship for defense and if my ship was going to be lost I would self-destruct and eject killing all the mercs. It would be great either way, I play for fun and things like that are fun. |

To further expand on my response, I am actually hoping (and this is a far-fetched dream of mine) that one day we get to see merc-on-capsuleer action aboard null-sec outposts. The day I see that is the day I feel like I am in heaven. |

I know, right? But look at it this way. Better to take it slow and avoid much hassles than to take it all at once and then have to backtrack what you did. |
