Two things I think: 1) The PC is a superior platform
2) PC players should not be able to use a mouse in DUST.
The first is a statement of fact. The second is a statement of opinion, don't get the two mixed up retards.
A mouse clearly blows a gaming pad out of the water when it comes to accuracy. No amount of nerfing to the mouse controls on a ps3 will make it fair to gamers who use a game pad. Either the controls won't be nerfed enough and pc gamers will still have a huge advantage OR it will be nerfed too much and pc gamers will be unhappy.
No mice for pc gamers. It's been done before, and the pc gamers annihilated console gamers. For the sake of my sorry ass, don't do it.
Cargo This has been shot down more times than I can count. We're getting keyboard and mouse (it's been repeatedly promised and confirmed; for the next build, in fact), you can choose to use it or choose to use a controller. Everyone wins. Your tears taste delicious. You're welcome to stick to crappy shooters like Halo if you have trouble with the concept. |

Silly pc gamers, thinking that a guy who plays DUST on his ps3 would play halo on the xbox. Want to accuse me of being a CoD fanboy too? Silly gamer who has a PS3, 360, Wii, PC, Vita, PSP, 3DS, and android phone and tablet. Huh, apparently playing one doesn't preclulde playing another...
And as to the post right before your post I quoted here, CCP doesn't need to support keyboard and mouse (which has already been confirmed and is coming in the next build, whether you like it or not; thankfully CCP usually ignores whiners), devices like Eagle Eye do an amazingly accurate job of translating keyboard and mouse inputs to controller inputs, and the game is none the wiser. There's a reason they cost as much as they do, and they're worth every penny. You can bet your ass that many serious players in games without mouse support use them all the time. |

Actually if they give PC users the advantage by allowing them to use KB+M then the game will fail. As a basic FPS it's really nothing special. People will not want to just play normal games and spend weeks grinding to get better armour or what not. New people will not stick around due to it taking so long to catch up to those who have been playing longer. If they cater more to the PC users then the console they may as well of just made it on PC. Yay, ignorance
The only time a mouse really makes a difference in a fight is if you're both evenly matched and evenly skilled, and happen to see each other at the same instant. The other 99% of the time, ****** players will die, good players will kill, and the guy who saw you first has the edge. The difference is that by allowing decent controls, you eliminate bad controls as a factor in fights.
There are people better with controllers than mice, and vice versa. That's fine, use the control method that works best for you. But denying keyboard and mouse support is actually far more unabalancing for the simple fact that it puts otherwise good players at a massive disadvantage. If you allow both, good players can simply be good players, without having to overcome an unfamiliar (and inferior) control method.
Finally, as has already been mentioned, refusing the support (that is coming in the next patch, so quit now if you're so terrified of mice) will have no effect other than simply concentrating mice in the hands of those willing to drop the money on an Eagle Eye, which they will. Proper support like we're getting ensures that ANYONE can cheaply and easily use the controls of their choice.
EDIT: Worth pointing out that there's already people using the Eagle Eye and others with Dust 514, so you're already getting pwnt by mouse users |

If they cater more to the PC users then the console they may as well of just made it on PC. I think they actually did make it on the pc. Then Sony came along with the big Checkbook. Since it was developed on unreal engine they could flip it to ds3 without any rework. My bet is that it'll be available on pc 1Day after the Sony exclusive deal expires. Actually they said from the start that it would be a console game, not a PC game. They've made some noises about a PC release not being ruled out, but even thinking about it isn't scheduled SoonGäó.
It was originally going to be 360 + PS3, but MSFT's policies and rules were too ridiculous and restrictive, whereas Sony's policies on the PS3 have been about as open as console gaming has ever been (except for the as-yet-unreleased Ouya), and so it became exclusive. There hasn't been any real mention of an actual exclusivity deal, it's simply a PS3 exclusive by default since it's the only (console) platform that could handle it and that was open enough to let them make their game how they want. |
