Bf3 is team based game, how often do you actually get people playing as a team? Just because someone has to approve a jet it doesn't mean that the guy will go infantry etc if he can't get a jet. You have to remember the mentality of some FPS players. I've played plenty of FPS games and believe me many are not team players like you or I. I agree with that. I'm not saying it'll be an easy task reeducating FPS players. The thing is that if they don't accept the command structure they will quickly find themselves only in the arena battles. Or maybe as odd lone wolves in FW. We can only hope that is the case. If not I'll have to find some people to play with pretty damn quickly As a rule, it seems the forum active beta players are team players. From what I've seen it's mostly the non-forum members who act as if there are no teams and no structure. I think we should gang together. |

Man, Hopefully Dust becomes more like that. 3 years extra development and all we get is this build :( You can thank Monoclegate for this. Yeah, the Jita Riots had them postponing all development on this game and then dropping 20% of their staff, though that was mainly from the Atlanta office, which is working on World of Darkness. What really made me sad is that they let Tony Gonzales go, who's the one who wrote The Empyrean Age and Templar One. |

Maken Tosch wrote:According to the person I talked to on comms, who played from the earliest version of Dust from 2009, he said that those jets are so fast that you often find yourself flying off into the red zone. If ccp has any plans to bring them back, which is likely given the evidence shown on the table in the merc quarters, then we need far bigger maps.
The whole point of the redzone right now is to keep things tight so that they can test out the game and find out what needs to be adjusted. Of course they are going to not only expand the current maps, but the new ones they add are going to be massive. I think they are going to let a lot of people be on one map at once, I even heard that we might have near 300 people on one map. If that is the case, then the maps are going to be huge! It already takes forever to get from one end of plateaus to the other on foot, imagine how massive it'll be once they fully open it up to the actual limits! There will be plenty of space to pilot jets around, I just hope that they are balanced, and not as easy to abuse like the current vehicles are. But once we have the big maps, vehicles won't be as overpowered since they will be out in the open and more exposed to anti-vehicle fire. |

I would also think that if this is true then they would provide a way to take them down just as they are going to provide weapons large enough to take out capital ships in space.
Has any one heard of this?

They can put in combat dropships aka gunships/etc now, and I hope they do soon, but fighters look like they need a ton of room to fly.
I can't wait for big maps and both styles of air combat are around. Fighters could possibly wreck gunships, but gunships seem more useful at helping clear locations for ground troops to secure.
I'm also looking forward to impromptu dune buggy races out in the desert, and long distance tank wars. |

Man, I can't wait until my EVE char can take a frig through atmo, and down to land in Dust zones. I'd feel like a regular Han Solo. 2014 maybe? |

you think drop ships are overpowered? Wait until I'm in the air. I want to be a detcated jet pilot. Dropships won't stand a chance when I'm in the air |

Zeran Haggai wrote:They would be cool, but I'm not sure how a flying vehicle that fast would be balanced in terms of AV weaponry. Current dropships can already outrun SL missiles if the pilot knows what they are doing, and hitting them with a Forge while moving can be a task depending on range.
I'm not sure how you deal with something moving at 2-3X those speeds. If you increase the speed of SL missiles you totally screw Dropships, but then the jets are near impossible to shoot down. If they can figure a way to balance it though havin jets would be awesome.
IT's the same way it works in BF3, don't worry another game allready did all of the hard work |
