I would say that as long as the servers seem to be overtaxed, then we absolutely don't need new players.
Anytime there seems to be over 300 players on the US server, the lag and hit detection is incredible.
CCP needs to make sure that the gaming environment and their network is up to par before worrying about more players.Without a stable gaming environment, nothing else matters because people won't play.I have a friend who has a beta key and won't play anymore because of the framerate and lag,and there are a ton of people out there that feel the same way.
If the majority of the 10k beta keys were given out in PS Home, why isn't at least half of those people playing? This is a serious question that CCP needs to not only address, but answer and rectify. |

um.... if 300 people are online at a time, that means about 2000-3000 people are playing each day
Where did you come up with that crazy math? How do you figure that 300 people=2000-3000 per day?
Besides, half of 10,000 is only 5,000,which still doesn't even support your argument. And mind you, that only the PS Home beta keys. What about the other how ever many people that got keys before that, who aren't playing?

dude, the ps home keys were only good for specific weekends i believe. There are certainly not that many with all access keys.
Wrong again, because that's how I got my key,and it works every single weekend.
Oh,and learn how to properly use the quote function please. |

my bad, didnt think those were all access keys.
i know how the quote function works, its a simple text error. take the stick out of your butt. no need for flames.
Not flaming, and for someone that knows that it's a text error, whatever that means, you did it again.

Tony Calif wrote:From my knowledge around 20,000 beta codes have been released. I assume 2500-5000 for their early stuff. Incitation only from what I was told by other players, so add pinch of salt. But they did have 1 group before the 5000 codes were sent to EvE players, and registered e-mails. I don't know if that was 5000 to EvE guys AND 5000 to registered e-mails or if it was split. But of then there is the 10000 home keys. That's quite a few keys, in comparison to the number of players on.
And that's my point.
Let's just assume for the sake of argument that so far a grand total of 15,000 keys have been sent out.Not even 1/3 of those are being used now.
You have a maximum of well under 500 people playing at a given time across all servers and game modes. All of the ambush servers never even have a total of 75 people ever playing at once, and the skirmish might hit 400 on a good day with the wind blowing in the right direction.
All that to say that even if you take into accout the time differences of people that are over seas when it's the middle of the night in the US,I find it hard to believe that they have equal numbers, which is about an average of 350-400 players.
So if you give that the benefit of the doubt, then the total is still only 800 players total that play, which is just over half of the keys given.Still bad numbers imo.
If this is an early reflection of what to expect from the open beta, there could be trouble. |

I understand that they need to test specific things and all but after a few weekends of playing Dust actively I dropped out of it, haven't played in a couple weeks now and have no will to play it again. If we get communications map with skirmish available I may consider playing again next week, maybe it's available today... meh, nah not really worth checking.
Can't wait til full release though, hope you do a good job CCP.
I can completely understand that you don't play anymore, and this is a great example of what I'm talking about.
If you think about it,it's pretty pointless for CCP to have handed out all of those keys if not even half of them are being used.If their goal was to get as much feedback as possible and have as many people in the beta as they could get, they should have just added the new map on top of the old one and kept ambush to a minimum.
I'm hoping that they had a legitimate reason for giving us this terrible map for this build.Either way,if in the next round of the beta they give us one single crappy map again,we will see the beta tester numbers dwindle even further.I would probably be part of that group that leaves to find something else to play,or I just got Netflix and there's a ton of stuff that I can watch on there instead of going through the same thing all over again without anything new.
