Thinking of buying a PC to play eve on, so looking for the optimum specs, but I tell you what, I am so out of date with PC specs having been a mac owner for a number of years its now all dutch to me.
And to make things really complicated, I want to use my 24" 7.1 iMac as a monitor for my new PC (dont have the space for a new PC on its own and dont want to ditch the mac as it has lots of work stuff on it.)
So... where do I even bloody start! |

no, I can't, my 7.1 iMac is no where near the spec to play Eve as its about 4 years old now.
To buy a mac with enough grunt to play eve on minimum spec I'm looking at an outlay of -ú800.
For recommended or higher looking at -ú2000
Also, want a windows PC for other games and something thats upgradable. |

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo with at least 2.0 Ghz speed - Check
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.7 or higher. - Check
Video: ATI HD2400, Nvidia 9400GT, or Intel HD 3000 or higher with at least 256 MB VRAM and supports Shader Model 3. - Fail, Have ATI with only 128MB VRAM and AFAIK this cannot be upgraded.
RAM: 2048 MB or more - Fail, have only 1GB but can upgrade this.

Kinda defates the objective of what I want to do.
Are EVE accounts transferable between computers?
Maybe download it and try it out and then possibly upgrade later. |

Already looked into it, the RAM is easy to upgrade, but the GPU, not possible. Annoyingly... |

Get a PC, can easily fit one up for half the price of a mac
This was the plan, use the mac as a monitor.
Well, trial downloaded, title screen seems ok... Starting it now... |

Actually, EVE appears to run reasonably well!
Except the captains quarters.
But wow! it's complex!! |
