^This would suck. And considering just a couple bad games in proto equipment (or basically anything, if you're not smart) could quickly deplete your funds, it seems a very real possibility. Now, on release, I expect that since it will take so long to get Proto equipment, players who use it will probably have a fair bit of money up their sleeve, but still. Without militia equipment, what happens if your Dropsuits all go invalid and you've got no ISK to replenish them?
I guess the most obvious answer would be to have a couple cheap, Tier I, Type I dropsuits in reserve, but let's say worst-case scenario, you're a player with no corp and no ISK. In EVE, you can always look for level 1 Cosmic Anomalies to get bounties, which would at least get you out of the hole for a little bit. Will there be any single-player component in Dust to facilitate some quick cash- even if it's only a couple thousand ISK each time you complete potential thing? |

Just like EVE will always have the "noob ships" (our version of militia gear) I'm certain that DUST will always have some miitia suits. The only militia items I suspect will be removed upon release, if not already in the next build are the vehicles, except perhaps the LAV. Being broke can really set you back, and rebuilding your fortunes from nothing will take time. a lot of it. On the other hands, you will probably be able to borrow ISK from friends, including your own alts. |

The golden rule of EVE is "don't fly what you can't afford to lose". The DUST equivalent might be, "Don't wear or drive anything you can't afford to lose". |

Sure there are ways around the funds, but if your broke and in militia then you're not fighting at the competitive level you once were. Good thing about Corps is at lest you get back up funds and in the likes of my corp, we plan to have a reimbursement program.

Hate to break it to you, but prices are rather low right now. We may find in the future, that a full proto suit could be quite a hefty sum. A match with 10 deaths could become quite wallet breaker - I personally hope this is the case, I want to see some dumbass complain about not being able to buy weapons anymore because he dug himself a hole to deep. |

I can forsee two reasons why that may not happen.
i) Corporations will manufacture suits and other equipment for their troops to take to war, it would be in their best interest to keep prices low because if their Mercs can afford to buy the best kit they are more likely to have the most success. The only time equipment will get VERY expensive is if one particular group or corp has a monopoly over its production, which will probably not happen.
or
ii) The economy will balance itself, if the price of doing war goes up, experienced well equipped mercs will command a higher asking price for contracts. So corps will have to pay more if they wish to attract the best talent. |

This
You have got to be good enough to be able to afford proto in every match and be able to make profit
If you cant do it then drop to a lower dropsuit so you dont go bankrupt |
