What's a game without trophies/achievements? I for one am a massive trophy ***** and I can't wait to see what DUST has in store for us.
I want people to post their ideas for good trophies that they should on to the game. Try to make up a name for them, state what has to be done to achieve them and what tier the trophy is in (bronze, Silver, gold) Here's some of my ideas.
Prepared for Battle (Bronze)- Create a custom dropsuit fitting.
Built from scratch (Bronze)- Create a custom vehicle fitting.
In the Big Leagues (Silver)- Join a Corp.
Welcome to New Eden (Silver)- Be a part of a Corp battle.
Making a Name for Yourself (Gold)- Win a Corp battle.
Student (Bronze)- Read through the tutorial pages.
Fully upgraded (Bronze)- upgrade a skill to level 5.
That's all i have for now. Curious to see what you guys have in mind |

Crysis 2 has a trophy for just starting up the game xD. It's more of a reference to Crysis 1 blowing up PCs. |

DCUO wasn't always free, and trophies are only unlocked for those who pay the monthly subscriptions. Free2Play players cannot get trophies for the game. |

I'm having fun without trophies. I really don't feel like there needs to be achievements for this game. I could be wrong. The only thing I love going for is those skill books. Do good in a match and you get points, use points to get better stuff. That's the only goal I see. |

and its only no trophies on a game with a subscription model but with a free to play
and dust is 100% free with no subscription model
so there will be trophies |

I am not really happy about adding trophies to Dust 514.
There are quite some people who will drop the game the second they get the last trophy. They will start boosting groups for the sole purpose of getting the trophies as fast as possible.
Trophies are a good way to keep someone playing a game over the border of having fun into the realm of doing chores. That is by far not how a game like Dust should "motivate" the playerbase. |

I don't understand anyone that is obsessed with trophies/achievements in games.
None of them get you anything tangible, like free avatars or premium wallpaper,so what's the point other than bragging rights?I think that if you have to validate how much you like a game by the trophies that you are able to obtain from it,then you have low self esteem.
I wouldn't mind if trophies gave you access to certain items in the PS Store, but they don't,so I couldn't care less if any game has them or not. |

with me the trophies are a challenge set forth by the game devs granted there are some easy ones (can it run crysis)
but it gives me a goal and i love hearing the sound win i get a trophy
beating mass effect 2 and 3 on insanity :) yes i did it and i can brag about it too with my trophy score my only gripe is that most are waaaaay to easy to get
trophies should offer a challenge and should not be given out just for beating campaign on easy :)
my only request to CCP on the trophy issue...make them hard to get i want a trophy that makes most people not even consider going for it |

Final Fantasy 13 had XMB themes you could install if you earned certain trophies. It's up to the developer to do things like that. |

Yup,that's exactly what I'm saying.
There shouldn't be a trophy system to dictate how challenging a game is when devs make them.Remember old games like TMNT,The Adventures Of Bayou Billy,Ghouls & Ghosts? Those games were challenging at their core and didn't need to have a trophy system to validate their difficulty. Those games are now all legends in how hard they were, along with other games from the past.
Nowadays, you need a trophy just to say that you accomplished something, when back then, just completing the game gave you cred.

Fair enough, trophies are fun but not a huge deal to me so I must have missed that bit. Thanks for the info. |

I guess I'll respond to this part too. Some of us like a more permanent ribbon for having done things. Game saves get deleted, overwritten, or corrupted, but the trophy server is theoretically there forever.
I personally use it more as a record of what I've done for my own use. It's also helped me get more out of games I otherwise wouldn't, and can sometimes allow me to enjoy a game that I would have turned off before it got around to being fun. I've also used it to look at friends' trophies to be a jumping off point for finding new games to play. If someone got 100% on a game, they may have liked it, and so it may be worth asking them about.
You may never like or understand the appeal of trophies, but you're also never going to change the minds of those that do. People who act like having a particular trophy makes them better than someone else are dumb, though. |

I actually appreciate that answer.
While I still don't quite get it,I guess that make a little more sense for those that are looking for something besides bragging rights.
