Tony Calif wrote:Yup, and the trouble is it's not CCP saying adapt or die. They're asking for feedback. It's the EvEfanboys. And they've been at it for atleast 2-3 months now. They'll keep talking trash too. But yeah, EvE people tend to over estimate the importance of EvE in the Dust. They don't realise that when Dust was first thought of, there wasn't going to be any link with EvE except the universe. No OS, no market integration. Dust is first and foremost an FPS. EvE isn't hardcore. Firstly you get 2 lives, secondly YOU RESPAWN. That's not hardcore. It's not just casuals it puts off. It's more annoying than the damn "My terrible KDR doesn't mean I suck" justification threads.
Unfourtunately CCP developers have constantly said this to both dust and eve players, they're very underhanded about.
The title of such threads however are typically called "Patch Notes."
Also you're wrong about dust interaction. In its infintile stage it was supposed to been a stratagey game played by eve players only as stage 2 of planetary interaction laid out 10 years ago. Currenlty Stage 1 is in place now, simple sim city infrastucture like experince. Stage 3 is for pilot to be able to fly low orbit on planets or acutally get out of the pod and travel on it by foot.
Dust 514 takes a bit of both stage 2 and 3 turning planets into a warzone and resource to be fought over. In a cruel sense its still an RTS from eve's point of view...
OMG DUST 514 is the RTS expansion to eve online... Except units you control are real people... Mind blown. |

@Wyvern Words of Hilmar CCP CEO. Initially we were not going to connect them. We were actually thinking about time shifting it so that DUST 514 would take place during a different time period in the EVE Universe. Yet that didnGÇÖt sound cool enough, so eventually we came to the idea of having EVE and DUST be two games in the same universe.
The game isn't complex or deep yet. Just the UI takes some getting used to. Like someone above said, tolerance is more required than intelligence currently. |

What could be more casual then collecting SP when your not even playing? If by casual you mean not easy to understand then I disagree with that as well, all information is laid out in front of you and can be broken down into simple math. In fact, has this game or the devs ever stated that this game would be casual?? I dont remember any such thing.
this is you:
"Hey! yeah you! how come this bike doesn't have training wheels?"
"That's an ice cream sandwich sir"
"This is some BULLPUCKY! I wanted a bike! that's why I came here...'
'..sir... this is an ice cream shop"

With the rumors of allowing keyboard and mouse compatibility, corps that have stringent recruiting policies that will **** the smaller corps, the introduction aurum, which isn't P2W but does unbalance the scales, and making the dropsuit customization system extremely complex to the average player coming from games like CoD or BF, this game seems to be anti-casual.
You can respond with bullsh*t like "Adapt or die", "Go back to CoD", "Unnecessary thread is unnecessary", "Kthnkxbai", etc. etc. etc. but you know it is true. DUST 514 has huge upside BUT it will be indeed very anti-casual! Therefore, look for the game to die a quick death on the console if it doesnt get much casual fps gamer support. Without a relatively strong casual fanbase NO game can be even moderately successful on console. Then its off to pc where it belongs. That'll be the best thing for dust 514 in the long run anyway. |

Im sick of the COD games and its countless clones which do nothing except make gamers accept ****** games with nothing new added and made even easier than before QFT! At first I was confused as edited figuring out what to do etc. After spending some time looking and asking questions on here I started to get the hang of it. Now I'm still not fully aware of everything as I really dunno best fits for vehicles etc, however I like that I have to research stuff more. Before I would just create a new character use all my points on one thing (forge gun etc) play a couple of games and do it all over again. I really hope they don't dumb it down for people as those are usually the kind who ruin games imo. EDIT: As for an above comment about game will die due to lack of casual players, one simple thing could fix that. Create a barebones type playlist that only uses militia gear and no skill points. People can jump on shoot stuff and go, everyone is on the same playing field weapons etc wise. |

I want a game where there are other people to play against.
Yes, I'd like a complex experience, but no, I don't want to play alone. That's why I support the argument that Dust needs to become more user-friendly. That doesn't mean that is has to become less complex. It just needs to look a bit more inviting. Eve has made great progress in this regard. Anyone with basic reading comprehension skills can grasp the basics quickly and start his own career in Eve these days. In Dust that same person gets mauled to ground by much more experienced people. That's like putting the tutorial areas of Eve in 0.0 space and telling newbies to like it or go home. |

They looked ugly and didn't make me want to read them. If they make it pleasing to the eye chances are more people will actually pay attention to them. |

I don't see the complexity except for the UI. Gameplay is a generic blend of the FPS games from the last few years. Will await next build though. I don't see what you guys find "complex" about it. The only thing that will really screw casuals is the SP heavy players will rack up. But I've been over that before. Can someone tell me something complex from the gameplay? |

I think is would be funny if the command suit was like... I don't know...
I had this vision of 3 dust players rolling around a futuristic looking one of these but you know with connectors and stuff sticking out of it so he could be hooked up to the MCC the pilot would be inside of course.. |

I too judge the complexity of a game after the second beta build. |
