and I find the costs of running proto gear with proto suit staggering.. and unbeneficial. At just about 100k per suit/mods/etc it's kinda crazy... For the first time, I'm self conscience about bringing them to the battlefield. The maximum amount of Isk i've ever made in a match is about 360k so that would cover 3 death and me still turning out a profit. Now I bought 100 suits for over 5 million ISK and I could probably make it all back +more just playing regularly with them, but I find myself gauging the battlefield now and if stuck with a crappy team, i just go to my cheap dragonscout with a charged sniper rifle.
Not asking for a change of price or anything. Risk comes with the territories. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were when they first aquired proto suits and gear. |

I've been running proto heavy proto forge for a few weeks now. I figured the suit would offset the cost by dying less and killing more - holy CRAP was I wrong. All it takes is one pansy to drop an RE at your feet and *boom* full health proto heavy suit dead even if you were full-tilt sprinting away. Hell, even if you kill the guy the RE still explodes and most likely kills you.
RE are the bane of my Dust existence. I'm so glad they are being nerfed into line - the 8th can't come quickly enough for me. |

Interesting that you chose to do this just before a stat reset. |

I too am spending all the ISK i had accumulated on running nothing but proto assault now. It's taking longer to spend it than I though it would. I started with 12 million ISK and I'm down to about 4 million after 3 weeks. Prolly go broke this weekend lol.
Survivability definitely doesn't scale with the ISK cost of the gear. My take on this is that when the game goes live pretty much the only time I'll be running full proto kit is when I'm in a corp/squad where I KNOW we're competent and that we've got each other's backs.

welcome to the heavies world, the cost of the proto heavy suit doesn't compensate with fire power of the current heavy i mean you could die easily by RE, dropships, Creogay and OP boundless SMG. The survivebility of the porto heavy is so low because its weak YES the heavy proto is weak compared to the other proto suits and that due to the over nerf it got, running Advanced suit is way better costing around 16k only. Anyway i quieted playing the beta weeks ago after testing the heavy i got disappointed/frustrated and now am waiting for the next build.
Good luck to all my fellow heavies out there |

What are you skill levels for all the gear you're using? It's really not enough to get to the minimum requirements on a proto suit (Dust) or ship (T2/T3 in EVE). You have to skill up WAYYYYY higher. The proto gear just allows you to use those skills much better than other gear. But basically it's pretty useless without top-notch skills in anything you use including support like Engineering and Electronics. |

Yes the proto suit doesn't have a lot of advantages I typically can't fill the extra slot we are given because of CPU management and I have upgraded almost all of my skills.
I find the their 2 suit is the most economical to run with.
With shield extenders and Goliath armor I am able to tank a direct hit from an remote explosive. I am sure I have surprised a few unskilled re losers. |

But basically it's pretty useless without top-notch skills in anything you use including support like Engineering and Electronics. for me i maxed out most of the passive skills like mechanics, Engineering, electronics, repair system, shields skills i also maxed out the HMG two operation skills the sharpshooter and other heavy-related skills either maxed out or at least at lvl 3 but still no good and i use proto gears. Compared to the previous build the current heavy doesn't back up half of its power, the only map to do well is communication ambush in other maps a heavy = target practice.
well there are countless thread describing the heavy class problems, one can hope CCP were/are listening. |

Personally,I think that this aspect is one of the greatest things about the game. The fact that there are consequences sets this game apart from everything else, where you just keep spawning and without any real repercussions.
I have a proto assault suit with a Duvolle, and some other goodies.I recently did the calculations and came up with 64,380 ISK per spawn.I generally average about 200k ISK per match,so if I die four times or more,I'm in the red.
I love the fact that you actually have to use your brain now when you hit the battlefield, and not just what guns you are going to equip, but the cost of them as well.
I think that this system is perfect and absolutely should not be touched.I think that for the heavy proto,it's an effort for people to realize that heavies shouldn't be on the frontlines. If you play the your roles that way that they are intended to be played, they it will be more beneficial to you and your team, instead of trying to be a one man army.Heavies are meant for support and AV. |

Also, keep in mind...
Once the rez mechanics are improved (supposedly next build) you'll get more ppl willing to run with logi suits/"medic" fittings. This means you'll be that much more likely to be picked up after you're killed. (ie: save 100k isk) |

Just be happy you're not a ship captain in Eve where a single fitting can cost you billions. |
